We've just finished a week staying at Haciendas 2 and was not disappointed at all. Don't read the negative reviews as the place was lovely. We had a one bedroom apartment with extra large terrace which had a double hammock, 2 sun loungers, table and chairs, 2 person seat and small table. The apartment was spotless, kids (ages 10 and 14) slept on the sofa bed which was comfy and we had the bedroom, the bed was also very comfy. Huge bathroom and a washing machine which was great for keeping on top of the holiday washing.
We arrived at the airport just after 9pm, yes the security did take a bit of time to get through and the transfer bus (easyJet) was taking ages to leave waiting on passengers obviously still waiting to get through security so we got off and jumped in a taxi which was only about a 10 minute journey and cost just under €30. We told him where we were staying and he pretty much dropped us at the door to the apartment. The code for the key box outside the room was given to us by WhatsApp the day before so accessing the room was easy out of reception hours. The reception staff had also been very responsive to my WhatsApp messages in the days leading up to the holiday. I'm glad we took a taxi from the airport as where the bus drops off and being dark would have been a nightmare with the amount of steps here while finding the room.
Yes there are a lot of steps as the apartments sit on a hill. There are a few restaurants and shops very close to the apartments but the walk down to the sea front only took about 15 minutes, slightly longer coming back as it's all uphill. Took a slight detour on first day walking to the beach front but if u walk down past Toby Jug, which is a great pub by the way, and continue all the way straight down the hill you can't go wrong. So many restaurants to eat at and we didn't have a bad meal once during our weeks stay.
The apartments are only a few minutes walk away from aqualand, we didn't visit here but it always looked busy. We did book a boat trip, 3 hours to see dolphins and whales. We unfortunately didn't see any dolphins but we saw so many whales which were incredible to see in their natural habitat. The boat trip included a sandwich for lunch and unlimited alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
My daughter was desperate to visit a place called chill box (see on Instagram) we found it and were blown away by the cocktail slushies (alcoholic and non alcoholic) and milkshakes. They were really good and the staff were lovely.
Don't get me wrong, lots of lucky lucky men down the beach front but if you politey tell them no then they leave you alone. You get them everywhere though and they are just trying to earn a living.
Check out was 10am on the last day and there was a little room to store your cases in by reception, albeit it was just a cleaning/storage room. Bags were safe enough but you do have to get cases out by 5.30pm before reception closes.
Our pick up time was 5.51 pm and pick up point was outside Iceland/Morrisons shop. The bus picked us up bang on time and there were a few more pick ups along the way. Airport was absolutely fine, we'd seen some awful videos and posts just from the day before saying folk had missed flights due to the new security machines but there were hardly any queues and it was quicker getting through than it was coming in. I heard a staff member saying that the videos the day before was because fridays are extremely busy in the airport.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Haciendas. That said, anyone with mobility issues, unless you hire a mobility scooter (and there are plenty to hire all around the area), this place might not be for you."
