Winter
The twinkly lights and cosy ambience of Europe’s Christmas markets provide the perfect antidote to cold, dark winter days. Berlin, Prague, Salzburg and Budapest host some of the largest and most renowned festivities at this time of year, but there are many charming alternatives to be found in cities such as Ljubljana, Krakow, Copenhagen and Reykjavik.
Spring
As the evenings become lighter and temperatures start to mellow, there are many fabulous events to be enjoyed across Europe in Spring. The famous tulip parade takes place in the middle of April in the Netherlands. The Budapest spring festival is happening during April and May, a must-see festival with music, films and art exhibitions. For any food lovers, the Maltese strawberry festival is happening in Malta in the middle of April, a festival featuring fresh, local foods and drinks.
Summer
The summer months are when Europe’s events are in full swing, from WOMAD festival in Glasgow happening in July. This summer is a big occasion for any football fans with the champions league being held in Budapest in May, the Europa league final being held in Istanbul and the conference league final being in Germany. This summer is packed full of music festivals, a must-see for any music lovers is the Starlite festival being held in Marbella. Another must see for music lovers is the Eurovision song contest, being held in Vienna happening in May.
Autumn
As summer comes to a close, there is still plenty of adventures to be had! In early Autumn – typically the last couple of weeks of September and early October – is the season of Oktoberfest in Germany, especially in Munich. A must see for any film lovers is the Zurich film festival happening at the end of September, where thousands of film enthusiasts gather to watch and celebrate over 100 movies with Hollywood stars often making an appearance!
