The Highland Hotel

"On arrival the main door looked like it was locked . It was very uninviting ….there were teenagers lying around the reception with feet on couches. The entrance carpets etc were disgusting it was in need of deep clean . We were given a piece of paper with a hand written number to access keypad lock . Anyone could have accessed bedroom. No way to lock from the inside. There was no clear directions to the room . Hallways dark and dreary. It was like a rabbits warren .. Health and safety issues all fire doors jammed open . NO fire exit signs .didnt see extinguishers either .. This so called Hotel is not fit for purpose DO NOT waste your money booking in here… The room was small with no window only a skylight. Bedding was dirty ,walls were needing decorated dirty footprints on them , bathroom not fit for purpose. As two females we felt unsafe in that environment. Definitely did not look like the photos on the website. We checked out immediately male at reception didn’t seem bothered or offer any alternative or refund. This was the WORST hotel I have ever booked We were lucky to get an alternative especially since it was the kiltwalk weekend …. BE WARNED this property is unclean,unwelcoming and has potential to be a fire hazard"

"Where to even begin with this hotel that is clearly auditioning for a role in a horror movie? Walking into the reception was like stepping into one of those films where the characters make questionable choices. The moment I entered, I was greeted by a heavy smell of smoke that made me wonder if I had accidentally walked into a lounge for chain-smokers. The check-in process was a real treat, too. My room number and passcode were announced like a winning lottery ticket for all to hear. I half expected a round of applause! After a mini trek through what felt like a maze, reminiscent of a scavenger hunt gone wrong I finally stumbled upon my room, I was welcomed by a gentleman in the hallway wearing boxers and a string vest, definitely not the staff uniform I had in mind! the aroma of herbal smoke wafting through the air was definitely a unique touch. Now, stepping into my room felt like entering a time capsule of neglect. The carpet resembled a Jackson Pollock painting, and the walls were adorned with a unique collection of grease and mysterious stains. I couldn’t quite identify. Was this modern art or just remnants of past guests’ questionable choices? let’s not forget the furniture, burn marks everywhere! It’s as if the room was the set of a low-budget action movie. The bed I hear you ask I can not tell you if it was comfy but I can tell you it was truly the pièce de résistance of this modern art work. A patchwork of bodily fluid stains that would make a crime scene investigator raise an eyebrow. Restful nights sleep? I cant answer that question I spent most of my time in this room looking for somewhere else to stay however if you would like to play a game of “Will I wake up needing a tetanus shot?” This is the place for you!"

"Sound proofing is non existent. Can hear people in other rooms below me ! Doors slamming at all hours , smoke detector covered up ! Can’t open window fully so it’s roasting in the room . Gives you a kettle but no cup, milk , tea or coffee. The thinnest pillow ever . Had to ask for another one and took ages to arrive ! Worst two night sleep I’ve had in ages . Waste of money !! Want a refund"
