"Bit of a mixed experience at this hotel.
Reception - check in was very haphazard. We were upsold a breakfast for £10pp (would be a great deal), but the receptionist made a few mistakes putting that and the tourist tax through. I was charged for one breakfast and 1 tourist tax (for 2 people in the room), then 1 breakfast and 2 tourist tax (so tourist tax was paid 3 times for 2 people). Another room in my party had a similar issue with the tourist tax (I only noticed mine tonight). We were given no information that you would usually expect - breakfast times, check out times, WIFI password, etc. We had earlier dropped our luggage off with the hotel, but that was even confused. My party was a total of 6 people. Of those, 2 people's luggage were not brought out, they had to go with the receptionist to find it.
Room - the room was lovely and comfortable, with a safe, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. Storage was also good. The room looked clean, however both occupants have dust allergies and we both experienced symptoms. It also turned out, we only had a couple of tissues in the box in our bathroom.
Breakfast - some members of the party really enjoyed their breakfasts, but thought The Alan needs to invest in an additional coffee machine. I ordered eggs benediction and was disappointed. It took 40 minutes to arrive and when it did it was stone cold (they put freezing cold ham on top of the muffin, which quickly reduces the temperature of everything else. The eggs were solid. They brought out a replacement in minutes, but my eggs were still a little over. The other breakfast we ordered was smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The eggs were dry and rubbery.
Overall - clearly my experience on this occassion wasn't great, however the hotel is in a great location, the room was nice and comfortable, and a decent size. For the price I paid, if I didn't have allergies, didn't pay for breakfast and reception sort themselves out, I would possibly stay here again."
