"We have just returned from a 10-day stay at Turunc resort—2 adults and one 12-year-old. It’s been absolutely brilliant and we will definitely be returning. To be honest, it was a very pleasant surprise just how stunning the scenery actually was.
The grounds are kept spotlessly clean and tidy, and the staff work like absolute demons. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was fantastic. There is a bit of a language barrier and the staff don't speak great English—not that they should have to, of course! I think they are told to say 'enjoy you meal' at every opportunity, so they will say it when serving drinks or taking your plate away :) But they try their best, and if they struggle, Google Translate is always on hand to save the day. The bar staff are great and will make almost any cocktail you want, on or off the menu (though they may have only done this because it was a quieter period). They use proper spirits on the whole, and the beer is Efes served in proper glasses or hard plastic cups around the pool. None of those nasty, flimsy plastic cups you sometimes get at other all-inclusives. There are plenty of bars to choose from and a couple of coffee and cake shops, so there is always somewhere to grab a drink or a snack.
We found the food great. It’s a similar menu every day, but there is a massive selection to choose from. There is a huge cold section in one room and another entire room just for hot food. Loads to choose from, very well cooked, and tasty. Before we arrived, we read some proper miserable reviews about the food, but in our opinion, this is just Brits being Brits. You know the kind: the bacon ain't the real British kind (they don't have any kind) or my kids will only eat spaghetti hoops and that's the hotels fault. It's healthy and loads of choice. Anyway, we loved it, and there are plenty of places to eat out nearby if you fancy a change of scenery. The à la carte wasn't open when we went, but there was loads of seating space and it was lovely eating our meals right by the quiet pool area. The waiters and waitresses really can't do enough for you, though a couple of them were a bit over-keen and repeatedly pestered for tips. Can't blame them really, though with he hours they put on probably for very little.
The pools were great and very spacious. You’ve got one quieter pool and one active pool with music and entertainment. We never had an issue getting a sunbed around either of them, but then again, we are always up early anyway. The Aqua Park is up a hill, about a 5-minute walk from the restaurant, but you can hitch a ride up in a buggy or just walk through one of the hotel blocks and use the lifts.
The beach is awesome. It's incredibly scenic, the sea is crystal clear, and it has a gentle slope in, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There is a long veranda sweeping all the way around the sea and cliff edge, fully loaded with sunbeds and shelters.
As an added bonus, there is a great little 50-meter tunnel that takes you right through the cliff, popping you out at a hidden spot with more ocean to swim and snorkel in. There’s no beach or places to sit there—just a brilliant viewing and swimming point.
The entertainment was alright. There are shows on most nights which are okay.
Lots of other nationalities at the hotel which we liked. Nothing worse than a hotel swamped with greedy, pissed up Brits. It was a great mix and friendly atmosphere.
The room was absolutely fine. It was cleaned every single day, the beds were comfy, and it had a decent shower. It had everything we needed.
Turunc itself is a lovely, leisurely 5-minute scenic stroll down to the harbour. It’s a nice little town with places to eat, drink, and the usual 'genuine fake goods' shops—but there aren't too many of them, and they don’t aggressively try to drag you inside like they do in neighbouring Marmaris. There are loads of trips on offer, especially boat trips. We ate out at the Z Mare restaurant and hotel just near our place, and it was decent. It was my wife's birthday, so they thoughtfully gave her a complimentary cake and fruit platter on the house and sang Happy Birthday to her, which was a lovely touch.
If we had to pick any negatives, we would be proper hard-pushed. But if forced, it would be the cigarette smoke you can't really escape (the Turks do love a smoke), and the air conditioning unit was a bit noisy but it worked great.
And that's it. We really, really enjoyed it. Even though we thought it looked good before we booked, we didn't fully expect it to be quite as good as it was. This hotel has got absolutely everything right, the setting is stunning, and we will 100% be going back."
