"This was our 3rd visit to the Greenland. We came for 10 days and overall, very very good. Our previous visits were around 8 years ago and 12 years ! Heres our positives..
Entertainment:
Hassan, the entertainment host is STILL there! We couldn't believe it and we love him! He is just amazing, funny, and is a credit to the hotel. The evening entertainment is and always has been very good. The acrobats, singers, dancers, always great.
The shop:
The husband and wife who run the shop are STILL there and have been for 26 years! They are a very lovey couple, but the shop is a little on the expensive side. Still worth going though!
Kids Club:
The children's club lady, I don't know her name is very very good with the kids, and the kids seem to love her! We loved to watch her do the evening dances with the kids, before the main entertainment started we used to bring our kids (now grown up) and it's still the same songs with a few new ones added, so we could join in to because we knew them lol.
Then it's Hassan's turn, the music be comes on to is now on my play list, it's so good! He called my husband Santa, due to his white beard. (See photos)
The food:
The food is so good! Lots to choose from, traditional Turkish food, english food. The salads are amazing, deserts are fabulous. No complaints there.
The omelette guy is so lovely, always happy and polite and makes amazing omelettes.
Rosie, you lovely lovely lady! Rosie was our favourite waitress, an absolute delight! Nothing was too much trouble, she would stand and chat, we really hope she gets to go back to university to do her learning! Good luck darling!
Therras Bar (top pool bar):
We have to mention Gulcin and Gozde the lovely lovely bar ladies, also a credit to the hotel, they are so funny and helpful, polite... thank you!
Housekeeping:
The housekeeping ladies are so lovely! Always smiling always polite. We put some laundry in on the first week and it says it would be ready the following day, but no, it was back in the room, a few hours later, dresses and shorts hung in the wardrobe and the rest ironed and folded and left on the bed.
Very efficient! Thank you!
Late check out:
If you want to do a late check out because you leave later in the evening, you can for £30, but you can only do that on the morning of the day you leave. It doesn't say that in the booklet in your room, it just says that you can. (It might not be your own room, though. We were lucky, paid, and managed to keep our own untill 6pm,) it just means you don't have to rush to be out by 12. You can still come and go and have a shower before you leave. I definitely recommend it.
I would also recommend having a safe to put your money and passports etc. £20. All rooms have one. They will show you how to set it up.
Now for the negatives.
Just a few points that we noticed that have changed since our last visits.
We had room 617 at the top, ground floor, but still had steps, overlooking the pool, with a balcony.
Ok, so, the room is looking very dated, it definitely needs a refurbishment and that includes the beds...it's like sleeping on a rock! They are so hard, uncomfortabley hard, I know some people like a hard bed but blimey they're too hard.
We had magic in our room... when ever we turned the air con off or on, the tv came on! Very odd!
The gardens are lovely! Pretty shrubs and flowers that smell amazing, but, there's litter that had not been picked up, it was still there when we left..cigarette packets, wrappers etc that could be collected, for instance, when the gardener is doing his watering or when the pool guy is cleaning around the pool, when it's closed, it could be picked up.
The dreaded slope up to the top pool/rooms. If you struggle with mobility then having a room at the top might not be such a good idea. Although it's quieter up there, getting there would be hard as the slope is steep. So when booking, be sure to mention it.
I think, what might be a nice touch is having a banister to help those who struggle to walk up, just on one side, I have issues with my knees and back and would totally have appreciated one.
In previous visits, the top pool was adult only, quiet, and was perfect for those without kids. Now though it's noisy, with kids jumping in, shouting etc. That is what the bottom pool is for. It needs to go back to how it was.
That's all the negatives, not that many to be fair.
So, overall, we still had a brilliant time and would probably go back for a visit for a week.
Thank you Greenland for a great stay!"
