"First time at Montana pine. It's on a hilly mountain side so consider this if you have mobility issues. Check in was speedy ,though a few more details on where things are would have been appreciated. In block 18, a few steep stairs to climb but not too bad. Room was perfect, needed another bedside table, but no complaints, the mattress was sublime, never slept so good. We were facing the mountain and we saw the wild boars running about.
Restaurant: I think it needs a little tlc, it's nice and spacious and has good views but we only sat outside once because the hornets like to come say hello 👋, no fault of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious, pancakes and fried eggs made fresh, mushrooms, beans, Turkish fare, pastries, fruit and cereal and meats, cheeses and salad. The butter portions could do with being in ice or on the chilled table with the cheeses as warm butter isn't nice plus I used one that has been out for a while and it was off. Plenty of different drinks for the morning, best meal of the day for me.
Lunch and dinner was similar, meats, veggies, rice ,chips, salads , cold meats and cheeses and fruit and desserts. There is one gluten free dessert but it was always covered with flies, it needed a lid on it, disappointed to see one gluten option was tinned pineapple slices. Drinks all self serve if I want soft drinks or hot ones, there is a tiny bar area ,which would look amazing and inviting if they made an effort on it.
Pools. We used the waterfall pool once, as it's too deep for me and made me panic 😄, so we used the top pool. No sun bed wars, but the water was so so cold, the first week the water was fine, the second week it was freezing. Not crowded and peaceful, lovely views. We didn't use the dolphin pool so.can't comment.
We used the lobby bar a few times, again it needs some more work on it, it needs more staff, some were so bloody miserable and rude, one member seemed to serve the men, but when myself and my daughter were waiting he looked over his shoulder , wiped a counter down, looked back, decided to load the dishwasher, then walked to us but didn't look at us so I asked for what I wanted as he clearly didn't want to serve me, I didn't get his name unfortunately. They have slush drinks but the straws are bamboo? Plant material and fall apart. The rest of the drinks are nice and some staff are amazing. We didn't go to the entertainment so can't comment . To go to town use Google maps, it's pretty straight forward, 10-15 mins walk, coming home get a cab as it's too steep.
If your not a cat lover this hotel isn't for you. They are everywhere which I loved, they like a fuss and treats, and yes they do follow you to your room. We took cat toys from Poundland and the toy you dangle from a stick was a massive hit.
Overall a nice, quiet ,peaceful hotel. Wonderful views and scenery. We'd go back in a heartbeat . Highly recommend this hotel to those who prefer the slower hotel, no blaring music ,no entertainment team or spa staff hassling you to join in or get treatments. 100% honest review . Try this hotel if you get the chance ."
