"My wife and I recently visited Saray Suites to celebrate our honeymoon immediately after our recent wedding. Having not been to Kalkan before, the Saray Suites hotel provided a perfect location to both rest and enjoy the sun at the hotel, while only being a 10-minute walk into the main town. There is a lovely coffee shop directly opposite the hotel alongside a Migros Jet supermarket which is so convenient.
We were greeted by the fantastic gentleman who worked behind Reception who helped take our luggage to our room. As it was our honeymoon, the hotel had laid on a floral display on the bed along with a complimentary bottle of wine and a fruit platter.
The hotel was a nice size so there was always space at the main pool, restaurant and terrace bar too without needing to worry. The adult-only vibe meant that it was always quiet and peaceful too. The Reception team, plus Orhan and Joe in the restaurant, were an absolute credit to the hotel and the place wouldn't be the same without their exceptional service. It is clear that the rest of the staff are much younger and less experienced so we did need to seek someone out when we needed assistance as the staff are not the most attentive.
The bar/restaurant team of Joe and Orhan was always welcoming, helpful and on hand to make life easier. The food was of a good standard but the evening restaurant prices could be a little expensive for some tastes.
The only disappointing element of the trip was the cleanliness of the rooms. The room was clean on arrival and we were welcomed excellently. However, as part of a two-week trip, our room was never once deep cleaned and the toiletries or mini-fridge never re-stocked. There was a dead fly/bug on the window ledge of our shower when we moved in and it remained there until we checked out. It was not the end of the world so not worth complaining about but it was a good indicator of the level of cleaning throughout. By the end of the two weeks, the floor was pretty dirty and hadn't been wiped throughout the stay. We were fortunate to be given pool towels by the hotel on arrival, however these weren't replaced throughout the stay either. It was only on the final day that we noticed clean towels tucked away near the communal pool for people to use, but nobody had mentioned to us that this was the process so we had no idea how to get towels.
The hotel also operates a no external food and drink on the premises policy due to the fact they have a mini-bar in the rooms. However, given how hot the place is, the bottles of water and coke we consumed from the fridge were not replaced which forced us to go and get bottled water from the nearby shop or the coffee shop opposite when we wanted to get a drink.
Those were the only small hiccups throughout our stay which would have taken it from a 8/10 to a 10/10 trip. Saray Suites is a fantastic hotel, with a great location and excellent value for money.
(A small tip for those staying in the garden, private pool room is that the cleaning/maintenance room is right outside so there can often be some noise and conversations on-going immediately outside the door in the early hours or late at night so bring a set of ear plugs.)"
