"We got back from this hotel after spending 10 days of a family of 4. Mid October trip. It wouldn’t be fair to only state the negatives and so I will try to be as fair as possible. Location- the hotel is out of the way and there isn’t anything in walking distance other than a little supermarket 5 minutes away. The beach joined to the hotel is rocky and not that nice, rogue dogs walk around and people tell you off for walking on certain parts of it as it as some is privately owned and some is owned by the local council. In order to get anywhere you need either a bus or a taxi. We used Uber to get taxis into Altinkum which was about 15/20 minutes away. Rooms- we stayed in a sea view family room and it was in fairness very spacious, loads of cupboard space and the balcony was big and views were stunning. It was clean and the maids came daily. I’d say this is the only thing that really saved my opinion of the hotel. I did see the standard family rooms and they looked tiny and heard several people complain about the size of these. Pools - the weather was hit and miss (mid October) but the fact that the main pool is overshadowed by the building makes it a lot worse because the sun is not on the pool for much of the day at all, it is very cold in the pool. Maybe it’s different in summer. The area surrounding the pool was very cramped, people were having to walk on the very edge of the pool to get passed which was quite dangerous and I did witness several people slip and fall around the pool. We did try one of the smaller pools in the family blocks but they were even colder. The water park was great fun but the water there was actually painfully cold so we couldn’t spend a prolonged period enjoying it. With the time of year we did expect a little wind and cooler evenings but I do feel that if the pools were heated (or heated better than they supposedly are currently) then it might have made for a more comfortable and enjoyable experience on the days that it was warm enough to go out. Entertainment - the entertainment staff were great and very enthusiastic, engaging and fun. The music around the pool was good and the mini disco at 8.30 every night was good. Kids club was used a couple of times by our two kids (5 and 8) and they liked it but said it was a little boring, the staff didn’t let them go out and use the park, and from my observations whilst being in there and sitting with the kids, the staff seemed bored and were engrossed in their phones. It was very dirty in there, the walls and floors needed a good deep clean, there were barely any toys it was almost as though they had all been chucked away. There were only 2 rooms open in there and I would say the setup geared more toward babies. Food - breakfast was a struggle for us to be honest, my kids ended up having pancakes every day just to eat something as the cereal wasn’t great, the toast was ok but you had to cut your own slices from the crusty bread and it wasn’t very big or filling. The sausages were basically the little mini hot dogs you tend to find in a tin of baked beans with sausage. The beans were not nice. My husband liked the egg and had that regularly. There was an option to have your own omelette made which was pretty good. For lunch we only ever went to the outdoor lunch bar which was a hit. Pizza, chicken nuggets, chips, rice and some form of pasta/spaghetti, chicken kebab meat and salad available daily. The waffles and icecreams were also a hit. For the evening meal it was hit and miss. Lots of choice but not much that looked appealing, lots of stew/casserole looking things with questionable smells. Puddings also loads of choice but not many of them actually any good. I’m not sure which nationality the food was really geared to as there were so many nationalities at the hotel so maybe they are just trying to please everyone a little bit. The outside grill in the evening was nice when it was on. There were flies everywhere landing over food inside and out which was off putting. Also a lot of the food was going cold. Hotel comments - 2 main things I’d like to mention. There are cats literally everywhere you look outside and some inside too. The children love them but of course this means sometimes they get bitten or scratched. My daughter got scratched (unprovoked) by one of the cats and we spoke to the Dr onsite who laughed and said she will be fine. We went to reception as I was a little concerned considering these are stray cats. The lady at reception suggested we should take my daughter to the hospital to get some injections and research online agreed with this, so we ended up going to the hospital who gave her a tetanus and a rabies shot. These were free and it was a fairly quick and easy process but we had to go back 2 further times during the holiday as the rabies shot has 4 separate shots on a strict time scale - the last one she has got to have back home in a couple of weeks. So all in all we spent 42 euros on taxis to and from the hospital (7 euros each way). This is pretty frustrating as you can’t really avoid the cats, they were lying on people who were asleep on sunbeds around the pool and they were in the main lobby of the hotel and everywhere else too. The second thing I wanted to mention was the fact that we went toward the end of the season and so the hotel were clearly winding down operations. This made it feel as though we were somewhat of an after thought. Examples: They ran out of the scoopable ice creams in a cone that were served after the evening meal , they ran out of Coke Zero, some of the seating areas were closed and cordoned off, the evening entertainment area had a load of stacked chairs up and some of the huts and bars were shut up. The hut that served the Starbucks was filthy - the blenders looked so dirty and there was just 1 girl working to serve the queue which at times was around 30 mins wait. The staff seemed somewhat tired and frustrated and it almost felt like we were not getting the full experience of the hotel. The dining hall was not very clean and there wasn’t anywhere to sit, there were too many people and not enough tables and there was nobody on the door to show you to a table or monitor the demand so it was like a free for all. Over all I would not return to the hotel and I also would not go back to Turkey at this time of year as there is just not enough to do."
