"Stayed for a week with family, including two children. The hotel is huge and generally very well run. The positives first — the food was very good with plenty of variety and consistently well stocked. The restaurants and food stations were kept clean throughout the day, and the food outlets down by the beach were a nice touch. The entrance and reception areas were lovely and have clearly been refit. The water park is massive, very impressive overall, well staffed and we hardly queued at all. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. That said, overall the hotel is far more run down than we expected, especially having stayed at several other hotels in Lara. Apart from the reception area and main restaurant, most of the hotel feels dated and quite tatty in places. The sunbeds are basic with tired-looking cushions, there are cracked and broken tiles everywhere, and its feels like it needs a proper refresh and repaint. The outdoor make shift restaurant just doesn’t work, half the food in one corner and the other half in the other corner! The kids club itself seemed fine in principle, but many of the toys were broken, mismatched and heavily worn — some genuinely looked unsafe. The walls and play areas were also very marked and tired looking. Day time entertainment is ok but evening shows were very dated. How many nights can we watch a dance troop? We’ve all seen backflips, human pyramids and jumping through hoops in droves - not that impressive anymore. The gardens didn’t appear particularly well maintained either, with weeds visible throughout, and the fountains looked old fashioned and neglected. The water park, whilst visually impressive, had three of the biggest slides closed because previous guests had reportedly suffered serious injuries, including shoulder and back injuries. There is now a 100kg weight limit on most ring slides, and according to one of the lifeguards, the closed slides are expected to remain shut all season. The racing slides are also incredibly fast — unless you know how to slow yourself down, it would be easy to hit the end very hard. We saw one older gentleman nearly go over the end completely, which understandably shook him up. The rooms were another mixed bag. We upgraded to a King Family Room on arrival, which was a great size, clean and well stocked, but again it just felt old fashioned and overdue for refurbishment. Overall, we still had a good holiday and were happy enough with our stay, but the hotel simply wasn’t as impressive as we expected. In our opinion, there are better options on Lara Beach and unfortunately we wouldn’t return until it’s had a refurb."
