"First of all I just wanted to say we had a wonderful holiday. Our 3 year old son had the absolute time of his life, made many friends and just wanted to be in the splash pool from sunrise to sunset.
I will start with the pros of the hotel itself:
- the staff were all wonderful and there wasn’t any staff member we came across that was anything short of well-mannered. From the second we stepped into the hotel, we were treated well with someone helping us with bags up the stairs, explaining the layout of the room etc. They were all so friendly and delightful.
- the food was some of the best food I’ve experienced in an all inclusive. The salads were so fresh and such a wide range. The desserts were beautiful. The pizza bar pizzas were all made to order, beautiful and fresh. There was always something available for my 3 year old (he’s not overly fussy but he is still 3 and winces at anything too unusual).
- the inside of the hotel is lovely. By this I mean the lobby, the restaurant, the halls are all lovely marble floors and wooden furniture.
- the spa and massage service was amazing. I had a two hour medial massage and the lady (Maya) did an excellent job.
- my step dad had a bit of trouble with a neighbouring room and the guest relations team were absolutely great about it offering to move him rooms and checked in on him regularly through the holiday.
- easy access to a private beach was lovely. I do love when a hotel has a private part of the beach.
- other services were great. There wasn’t any staff an onsite shop, a hairdressers, ice cream and dessert bar, a gym, a doctor, Al a crate restaurants (the food was amazing here and the service was impeccable)
- we had several power cuts whilst there due to a storm (no fault of hotel) but the generators kicked in so so quickly.
Cons:
- WiFi was charged for and was only free in the lobby. This didn’t sit right with me in a 5* hotel. Speaking to others on the coach journey back, this was not standard to be charged for internet in the neighbouring hotels.
- external people allowed into hotel to sell things for excursions. Now, this doesn’t actually bother me so much as it’s very common and I do love to book my excursions on the first day but the thing that annoyed me about this was that the guy actually lied to us and told us he was our representative for our transfers to the hotel and our excursions rep. He knew what room we were in and who we booked with which made it believable. We booked with him and then realised we could actually get cheaper elsewhere.
- there’s not a lot of hotel space (mainly seats and pool). Again, this didn’t bother us much due to the time of year and how quiet the hotel was when we were there. But definitely something to consider for others who would book in the height of summer, school hols etc.
- the hotel room we stayed in was really worn down, damp in the corner and mouldy in the cupboard. When we first arrived we were put in a double room when we had booked a triple (there were 3 of us). This was VERY quickly resolved but the second room we were put in was quite run down. Now, I don’t know if this room wasn’t meant to be occupied and was meant to be renovated as my mums room wasn’t as bad as ours, but it was definitely off putting. The rooms were still outdated regardless of the damp. We were on the top floor which could explain this.
-the mini disco doesn’t start until 9pm which I personally feel is too late. Especially for littler ones.
-there was times where there was no food available. Which I did find a bit odd for a 5* all inclusive. (4pm-7pm, 9pm-midnight there was no food available at all in any of the bars apart from ice cream).
- the spa itself, especially the relax room, was very run down. Certain parts were lovely and certain parts could do with a refurb.
Other factors to consider that are more about surroundings and not included in hotel rating -
-There isn’t much around the hotel to do that isn’t a taxi ride away but not too far that it’ll cost an arm and a leg. Never paid more than £6-7 for a taxi. There is a town and a shopping centre both less than 10 min drive away. There is a free shuttle bus from hotel to town.
-We did the pirate ship experience and it was amazing. Our little boy loved it. Check prices online/check prices of other people before booking.
-There is a shopping centre called Alanyum not far from hotel that has an arcade and soft play - great for rainy days."
