"I stayed at Tour Khalef for 10 nights from 24th September 2026-4th October 2026 as a solo female traveller. I have travelled extensively, and this is my 2nd beach holiday without kids (they’re too old and I like me-time lol). I can say, without a doubt this was the best holiday, best hotel and most importantly THE BEST service I have ever experienced.
First of all the hotel is so beautiful, inside and out. The pools were clean, fabulous, beach is beautiful if you dodge the hawkers but that’s easy and the lifeguards were great at keeping everyone happy.
The Med was turquoise, the sand white and swimming in the sea that was 27° felt like heaven.
My room was huge, very luxurious with a balcony, spa like bathroom and the AC was incredible! Sitting outside in the warm evening with moonlight and music was wonderful.
However, what made the trip so special was the staff.
- The lovely man who checked me in on 24th September at approximately 9pm (I’m so sorry I can’t remember his name but he had just started night shift and was cheery despite not having slept too well- I’m a nurse so I can empathise!). He made me feel immediately special, made sure I knew what I needed to know, was friendly and professional.
- The lovely man who carried my luggage despite the fact I didn’t have cash yet to tip him and he deserved it - I pack heavy!
- The man at the snack bar who stopped what he was doing to bring coffee and water every morning, he always asked how I’d slept, how I was and to remember what I like when dealing with so many people made my day better.
- Same with his tall colleague who worked round the pool every day, a young tall fellow with glasses. So polite and attentive
- The woman in the towel place - so lovely, I saw her giving such friendly service to everyone. She is an absolute gem.
- The staff within the spa, I had a relaxing back massage then a pedicure. Both were incredible. The therapists were professional, made sure they communicated what was happening and what I wanted and I felt so much better afterwards.
I spent most afternoons in the indoor saltwater hydro pool as I have a lot of aches and pains, that place is incredible. If I win the lottery, I am re-creating it in my house! A huge warm pool with fierce jet that pummel the tension right out of your legs, back and shoulders. Hydrotherapy at its finest!
In terms of tipping, I felt like it was not expected but I couldn’t have asked for a better Service, I made sure to tip everyone because it was more than deserved, obviously a personal preference but I saw staff working long shift in very hot weather, I know some of them worked split shifts which having done this myself is not easy. If you are going to the hotel, I would advise you take out a couple of hundred TND either at the airport or from one of the two ATMs at the hotel. Reception staff will also change currency as Tunisia has strict rules about not bringing money in or out however I think I spent approximately £100 overall in the 10 days I was there, this was tips and a couple of local souvenirs, money well spent.
Best of all was the service during meal times. 10/10. I can’t say enough good things but I’ll give it a go:
- I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main buffet restaurant. The staff are impeccable, they anticipate everyone’s needs and will go the extra mile for everyone. The food was literal art…absolutely amazing selection of cuisine for everyone. Great vegetarian dishes
- I preferred to eat outside most of the time, I have to give a really big special shout out to the waiter who worked lunch and dinner service, knew that I was eating alone and would set my table with flowers, had my water ready, would check to make sure I was okay during the meal and he was so friendly and polite. Incidentally, I have never seen anyone open wine so proficiently and look so good doing it! I don’t drink wine myself, but it was a pleasure to watch 👌🏽😉
- Another big thanks to the waiter who let me sit down for dinner service outside a few minutes early, instead of making me feel uncomfortable or awkward. It is directly because of him that I have just rebooked for 10 nights in May 2027!
- Youssef was also lovely, he would come round and chat to all the hotel guests while they were eating. He and the restaurant management team were so professional and busy all the time. It’s worth noting that staff are multilingual, which is insanely impressive.
- Finally, I promised that I would mention Lena’s name, she was on the reception desk when I checked out, showed me the luggage room and let me hang about the lobby and outside until it was time for my transfer at 4:30 pm. I really appreciated her kindness and all reception staff were wonderful.
My room was spotless every day and housekeeping staff deserve exceptional praise for the work they do around the hotel.
Finally, I’ll end this review by saying thank you to the staff for such incredible personalised wonderful special service every day I was there. I can’t wait to come back again in May to this unbelievable resort hotel. Highly recommended, if I could give six stars I would."
