One Resort Aqua Park and Spa

"Little improvement could make this place so much better. It was my daughters birthday during our stay so contacted the hotel via email, WhatsApp and via Instagram to try and arrange something, sadly I didn’t have a reply on either message which was a real shame. Transfer: About 40 mins, only 1 stop before we got dropped off. Check-in: Many people arrived at the same time, only 1 person on reception to check people in before paying the guy for the local taxes so could have been quicker. Room: We stayed in a family room, note this hotel has no lifts, family rooms are on the 1sr and 2nd floors so if you have a buggy etc bare that in mind. Rooms are ok, our fridge didn’t work, reported 4 times and wasn’t sorted, sliding door was broken and lock on the balcony door didn’t work but thankfully fixed within the hour. Draw on desk was broke and half hanging off. Room itself was ok, larger than most rooms and having a smaller sleeping area for the kids is great. Bathroom was a good size and clean. Drinks: The hotel has signs about recycling and the environment, sadly they don’t really practice much of this, they use a number of single use plastics like spoons for the deserts and for the soft drinks most are from 1 litre bottles. Service on the bars was poor, usually more often than not just one person on the bar so the wait can be long and when the evening entertainment is on order in bulk as the barmen often need to leave the bar to collect empty’s. Drink selection is poor as well sadly, you’ll see many spirit bottles behind the pool bar…..sadly this bar services hot drinks, beer, water and soft drinks only. I’d highly highly recommend taking your own cups! Snacks: Ice Cream, you’d get more ice cream on a tea spoon than what you’re given on a cone! But they do taste nice. Snack Bar: School canteen burgers and the greasiest chips you’ll get! Beach Snack Bar: After a few days I noticed this was the best place for drinks as no queues. This is also the place food is available 24/7 with menus depending on the time. Tacos were nice despite not actually being tacos, pizza had done weird cheese texture that stuck to your month for a while. Entertainment: Night shows were very very good! The entertainment team are a credit to the hotel, They try getting you involved with activities but not pushy if you say no. Some nights the entertainment can be held away from the main area but it’s not clear where each nightly entertainment is held, one night a number of people waited while it started in the main hotel area by reception. They always have something going on, you also have mini golf and archery if you fancy it. Buffet Restaurant: Haven’t been to an A/I like this before! Way too small for the amount of guests! You queue up like your at school, the food isn’t set out on islands so you can only get food on one side and when people queue for some pasta it blocks people of getting to many food options. Breakfast and Dinner weren’t great, breakfast offering was basic and long queues on the show cooking for eggs, waffles and omelettes. My advice would be go for breakfast before 8am. Lunch was very good, local dishes which I really enjoyed! Plenty of flavour, the desserts were very good as well. Extras: You do have people trying to sell you trips out, jewellery, nuts and spa treatments but again if you don’t want to buy anything they leave you alone. Pool Area: Kids will love it! Lazy river was lovely sadly some kids do like to jump on and a number did hurt themselves as lifeguards don’t seem to want to stop jumping in despite it being very shallow. The main pool area has music and it can be very very loud! But does go down in volume during lunchtime. One child did really hurt themselves and required first aid, blood as around the pool area and I witnessed a lifeguard using his bare hands to wipe the blood away from the pool side! They do also have a relaxing adults only pool that looked lovely! Beach: Not great but is cleaned daily with security walking around. Plenty of umbrellas and sun beds. Onsite Shops: Decent had the usual stuff not overly expensive either and you can still barter. Staff: Hit and miss, some looked like they didn’t give a dam and on their phones while others were friendly and chatty. Nearby: One shop 15 mins away which we walked too without any issues. Apart from that nothing within walking distance of the hotel. Would I stay here again? No, hearing what some paid you can get better for the money but I’d return to Tunisia. Food and drinks wise it’s one of the worst All inclusive resorts I’ve stayed in terms of options, especially drinks wise and the food was disappointing and I’m not a fussy eater. À la carte: it’s basically the same food as the buffet jazzed up abit!"

"Pro's... Bungalow style rooms throughout the majority of the hotel. Our room consisted of 1 X double bed in a large room, and through a door/curtain led to 3 X single beds for our two boys followed by a small garden patio. Large bathroom with walk in shower. Cleaned regularly, fresh towels provided and a hairdryer. Waterpark was great for kids and adults. Open 10-1 and 3-5pm. Entertainment team was great, really good with kids. Friendly but not pushy. We joined in with aqua aerobics, darts, step aerobics, crazy golf & table tennis. We cannot comment on the quality of the night time entertainment as kids club started at 8:30pm, followed by night show at 9:30pm which were a little late for our young children. Food was plentiful with lots of choice (although lots not labelled so no idea what it actually was). I would say lots of choice for adventurous eaters. Staff work very hard...including the dining room staff, the cleaners, the gardeners. Shout out to the man who cleaned around the waterpark pool constantly throughout the day to keep it spotless. Spa is great and can recommend a massage (normally cost £50 but offered us a deal - £80 for 2 massages 50 mins long. We highly recommend booking onto the camel rides and quad bikes with the Ali Baba excursion team. Reception staff very helpful. Hotel right on the beach - some watersports available. Secure beach with police presence. Felt very safe. Cons... Took half an hour to check in (only us and 1 other family checking in) and then to be shown to our room (this felt like forever with 2 young kids at 10:30pm). Very busy dining room at tea time but we always found a table. I feel the hotel could cater for kids more by way of food choice... admittedly my kids are pretty beige eaters but lived off plain pasta, chips and dry bread for a week. I also noticed that most other kids plates were full of the same. Music was very loud around the (waterpark) pool throughout the day, it could be a notch or 2 quieter. We normally do self catering holidays but thought we'd have a go at AI...it cemented to us that SC is better for us. It infuriates us to see people fully taking advantage and cramming 10-15 deserts onto one plate to only take a bite of 1 and then leave everything. Kids left alone to fend for themselves at the burger and ice cream stall leaving dirty plates around and throwing half eaten ice cream cones on the floor to leave the staff to clean up after them. I suppose you seem to find less respectful behaviour at AI. The lad serving at the ice cream stall could do with a customer service refresher course. Burgers and pasta bar served very standard food...don't expect a nice freshly made burger, it's very basic. 1 staff member serving at the lobby bar at 6:30pm just as the dining room was about to open with a queue wrapped around the room. Hotel not really within walking distance to anything. General... Transfer time from airport - 1hr. Hard Rock Cafe - 30-40 mins taxi ride away. Taxi cost approx £40 return (he waited for us to bring us home and was happy to take you elsewhere if you wanted (but not pushy). On site shops selling gifts, clothes, snacks etc. Change your money when you land at the airport and get a receipt as this needed to change it back (closed currency). You can draw money out at ATM's in town but no receipts given. Remember, locals rely on tips. Would we come again...yes. Did we have a good holiday...yes. Was it what I expected from an AI...yes If I returned (to this country in general) I would bring home comforts such as cordial, breakfast bars and general snacks (pringles approx £4 a tube from the on site shop). A solid 7/10 from us!"

"A good hotel that could be much better. To start, we came at the end of October, it was heaving for the first few days we arrived and it was just stupidly busy, I would hate to see it in summer when it is at full capacity. If you're looking for a quiet holiday this is not the place for you. Entertainment crew are good- not overly dynamic and not too pushy that if you don't want to join in you're not pestered. Some of the shows are painful to watch and are extremely amateur in production. A blatant and dangerous disregard for health and safety at times which was worrying. Music choice leaves a lot to be desired and is blasted out all day Pools are clean and plenty of sunbeds but not masses of space so grab a spot early if you want to be near a pool. Bars are a weird mix - pool bars only serve beer, wine and soft drinks. If you want anything else you need to use different bars. Not sure if it is because we are near end of season but pool bars look empty. Only ever 1 person serving so it can take a while Restaurant is nice, plenty of different options to find something you like. My bug bear with the Restaurant is it doesn't serve ice-cream. Loads of cakes and fruit on offer. Just a small thing but as my little one likes an ice-cream after her meal its an annoyance. Restaurants get busy! I would hate to be here in summer as the first few days were crazy! Queues for all parts of the buffet and it took that long that the first bit you got was cold by the time you'd got through. We found an early breakfast and lunch was the best times to eat as it was really peaceful. Havent found the best time for evening meal. Near the slide pool there are a number of stalls with burgers and one that has ice-cream on offer but its not great. Usually only 3 flavours available and it is a piddly small amount you get given. Rooms are spread out across a wide area and are fine, no issue with general cleanliness but just small things that let it down. Cracked tiles, tiling that isn't flush with walls/corners so big gaps, light fitting/plug surrounds that fall off, fridge not working, small cups provided but no kettle (you can request a kettle but it took 4 days to arrive) Hotel room door wouldnt lock from the inside so it was open to anyone who had a key card at all times (hotel staff) To say they are supposedly an eco hotel and ask you to limit laundry etc they change towels every day regardless whether you want them doing. And loads of single use plastic. The grounds are lovely and well cared for. But small things overlooked, there was a glass broken on the path early in the stay, the broken glass was still there at the end of the week. Beach is clean for the hotels bit but if you wander further up its full of litter, obviously not the hotels fault but needs a mention Staff are friendly and work hard. Lovely catering staff - the lady who makes the morning donuts and the man who makes the omeletes are both lovely and friendly. Waiting on staff work hard and remember you for drink choice at meal times Overall a nice hotel but needs work. A good spot for a cheap holiday but it is loud and not at all relaxing when busy. A nice week in the sun but we wont be back"
