"Thanks to Milou, the delightful young woman who helped us at check in, we had a marvelous time. The Adler is a three-star hotel, but our wonderful experience with Milou made it feel like a five-star hotel. We had an early arrival from the U.S. and my wife had trouble sleeping on the plane. Milou was terrific is working with housekeeping staff to get us into the room early.
Milou offered us a complimentary drink in honor of our 41st anniversary which we were celebrating in Zurich. It was a lovely gesture which we enjoyed just before dinner at the hotel restaurant, Swiss Chuchi. When we checked out, Milou presented us with a small box of four swiss chocolate spreads. We were deeply touched by her consideration.
Out room was compact, but we did not feel cramped. We loved the mural of the Altstadt in our room. The beds were comfortable, and the water pressure was good. We appreciated the cleanliness of the room.
We enjoyed our dinner at Swiss Chuchi. It serves traditional alpine dishes. Our fondue as delicious. We appreciated the fact that the waiter scraped the last of the cheese onto to our plates explaining that "this was the best part". The restaurant was a bit pricey, but just about everything in Switzerland is a bit pricey!
Breakfast the next morning was delicious and plentiful. We had the pleasure of seeing Milou again since she was working in the dining room. The male server there was also delightfully friendly and helpful.
The hotel was easily walkable from the train station (we are a 71 and 66-year-old active couple). You walk along a scenic riverside sidewalk most of the way.
At one-point Milou mentioned that she is a trainee or apprentice, I am not sure of the exact term. At any rate, I would say to the hotel's management that she exemplifies all of the qualities of a hospitality professional. You would be fortunate to have her as a permanent member of your staff."
