"Why I would recommend this hotel: Friendly and genuinely welcoming staff, excellent fitness facilities and great value for money, making it a good choice for both business and leisure travellers.
Location:
The hotel is located in the western part of Zurich, close to the football stadium rather than in the city centre. While the immediate surroundings are primarily residential and business-oriented, the city centre is easily reached within minutes by tram, with frequent connections making it very convenient to explore Zurich. There are several supermarkets and everyday amenities nearby, although those looking for luxury shopping or charming streets will naturally find better options closer to the old town.
Check-in:
The front office team is undoubtedly one of the hotel's greatest strengths. I was welcomed by a wonderful Greek receptionist whose warmth, professionalism and genuine hospitality immediately made me feel at home. The check-in process was efficient, yet she still took the time to explain all of the hotel's facilities in detail and answer every question with a smile. As a thoughtful welcome gesture, I was also offered Swiss chocolate, which was a lovely local touch and left an excellent first impression.
Room:
The room was clean, comfortable and perfectly functional. While the design is beginning to show its age and could benefit from a refurbishment in the future, everything was well maintained and worked exactly as expected. There is nothing particularly memorable about the room itself, but it provides everything needed for a comfortable stay. One aspect that deserves special mention is the air conditioning, which performed well. Considering that effective air conditioning is not always guaranteed in Zurich, this was particularly appreciated during warmer days.
Hotel facilities:
One of the hotel's standout features is its partnership with Holmes Place, which operates the fitness and wellness facilities within the building. Guests have access to an outstanding gym that is significantly larger and better equipped than what is typically found in hotels. The equipment is modern, the facilities are well maintained and the staff are welcoming and professional. It is genuinely one of the best hotel fitness centres I have experienced and adds tremendous value to the overall stay.
Restaurant:
The restaurant offers a varied menu with good-quality food and professional service. The staff were attentive and efficient throughout my visit, creating a pleasant dining experience. Prices are in line with what one would generally expect in Switzerland. While I would certainly dine here again for the convenience and reliable quality, guests looking for the very best value or a more memorable culinary experience may find attractive alternatives elsewhere in Zurich.
Overall:
Crowne Plaza Zurich is a great business hotel offering very good value for money in one of the world's most expensive cities. While the rooms are relatively simple and could benefit from modernization, the genuinely friendly and professional team elevates the entire experience. Combined with the outstanding Holmes Place fitness centre, comfortable accommodation and convenient public transport connections, this is a hotel I would happily recommend to both business travellers and anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Zurich without paying city centre luxury hotel prices."
