Le Montbrillant

"Such a disappointment. Absolutely not a 4 star hotel. The location: next to Gare Coravin. An area of significant homelessness. Huge groups of homeless people congregate 20 seconds walk from the hotel front door. It's intimidating for a solo traveller. Very noisy location. My room faced the train station and they had renovation work overnight which was awful. I didn't sleep well for the entire week between the trains and station renovations. On the plus side, it's very close to a few small food shops at the station. About 8 mins walk to the bus station. About 10 minutes easy walk to the lake. 30 seconds to the train station. 15 mins to old town. The room: very worn and old. Poor air con which actually stopped entirely on the last day. The bathroom lighting was no brighter than a candle. Fusty smell. Needs a complete renovation. No shampoo or conditioner. Corridors dark. Tiny lift. The hotel: inconsistent service. Staff definitely choosing to ignore me stood waiting at times. I would never choose le Montbrilliant again. It's not a safe area for a solo traveller. If I came to Geneva again, I'd go for the other side of the lake near to Geneve Plage area."

"This hotel has a super location exactly at Geneva train station, but most importantly, the staff is very friendly. I want to mention Stevan who from day one made me feel right at home. Eleonore was also fantastic. The hotel has access to almost all bus and tram routes, which is a huge advantage in Geneva. The room is clean and had what was needed for my visit, especially the air conditioning. I will come back to stay there on my next trips to Geneva. Thank you Stevan and Eleonore."

"I stayed for one night at this Hotel and I possibly got the worse room I could get. It was on the last floor, very small, spartan, with a "view" to the rear and no better than a cheap inn. It was clean, though, but there was no shampoo or body lotion and, apart from the shower gel, there were no other amenities. Bathroom was old-fashioned too. Certainly, not a room up to a 4 star hotel standard and to what I paid. Breakfast was no surprise considering the room. Tables were not dressed and I was to pick the last slice of poor quality ham and the last slice of cheese. Cutlery was of many models and shapes which makes no sense considering the acclaimed hotel standard. So, if you are planning to stay in this hotel, make sure they treat you as a guest and don’t give you what looks like the servant’s rooms. I wont be returning for sure."
