Holiday Inn Express Geneva Airport

"I always stay here when working in the area as it’s close to the airport. They have a shuttle bus or you can use the local airport busses to reach the property, or even walk. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are very clean, comfortable beds and a good selection of plug sockets and usb’s for charging your devices. The staff are very pleasant and on this occasion I must say 2 staff members at the front desk were amazing. First Laura ! She was welcoming and proffesional and made you feel at home in the property. I had an issue and she did everything she could to help. Honestly, if I was rich and had a hotel, I would want her working for me as a manager. So thank you Laura. And also a Thank you on this occasion to Olivier, he has been at the hotel as long as I can remember, atkeast 6 years. He was fun and again made you feel at home there by his chats at the bar. And his recommendation on lager was perfect. And there’s another point, the bar is very good. I was having a beer at midnight. And as I arrived late after a long drive, it was perfect. And not to mention the free breakfast in the morning you won’t leave hungry. So I recommend this property. ‘Remember!’ it’s not a 5 Star, it’s a holiday inn Express and basing it on that, you will no doubt give it 10/10. And I know I mentioned 2 staff, the 2 gentleman at reception in the morning were just as good. I just didn’t get there names. I will Always stay here when working in this area."

"Very accommodating friendly clean hotel. If I could give it 6 stars I would. We arrived on an early flight from the US. We took the free hotel shuttle and the hotel checked us in early at 10 am. Our departure flight the next day was in the late afternoon and the hotel let us keep the room till 3 pm. Breakfast was excellent. Breads, juices, fancy coffees, eggs, a variety of cold cuts and cheeses, etc. Our room faced the airport and we could see the planes taking off but silently, as if in a muted movie. Highly recommended."

"It's been a minute since an experience this bad. It could EASILY happen to you - check the weather Rainy night in Geneva. Not a light misting rain, but an intense heavy, soaking rain. As anyone who works around airports knows, planes get delayed with weather and contaminated runways. Also, apparently, there was an earlier security issue at GVA backing up flights even further. I picked this hotel since they put in their listing that they have an airport shuttle. Moving on, I was actually only 25 minutes late, and when I went to the shuttle area, many hotels (NH, Marriott, Hilton) were there picking up their guests from the same delayed flight I was on. Not seeing a shuttle, I called the hotel and got Olivier. He said that the last shuttle had left. No suggestions, no assistance. I said ok great, and tried to get an uber with absolutely no luck. I called Olivier back and asked him to cancel since there would be no way to get to the hotel ... not even a reasonable walking path; Google Maps takes you along the dark highway that cars are driving on at relatively high speed. HE WOULD NOT CANCEL. At that point I would have paid triple to go to the Marriott. A little voice told me that I should just stick with my preferred brands, but they were three times the cost for an eight hour layover. So - when flights are likely to be delayed .. here's an idea: KEEP THE DRIVER AROUND AN EXTRA HOUR OR SO... PAY THE OVERTIME. Hire some staff with a little empathy and problem solving skills Olivier says this happens "...almost every time it rains". Really? And you don't do anything about it? Almost secondary at this point: room okay. Smallish, but reasonable. TV only had one channel (yes, all others said "not available") No business cards for the GM. I typically stay nights nights per year.. and DO have my preferred brands. HG is not one of them. I don't know that this is indicative of the corporation level of service, but they obviously tolerate it, since apparently my experience is not unique. You can bet with amazing odds, that I will take this up with IHG, hotel franchisee and if there is a tourism board, the Swiss government. Five European hotels this week, all lovely.
