"We stayed in this hotel in December 2025. We did not know Basel or Switzerland at all, or indeed locations of any of the hotels, however, how fortunate we were to have booked this hotel. It is situated in a superb location for ease of travel, being slightly adjacent/over the road from the superb train station, bus and tram stops. A easy walk into/around Basel/Christmas markets was approximately 20 mins. The hotel itself is delightful to stay in. It is clean, tidy, quiet (we heard no outside noise whatsoever), the staff were extremely helpful, their English was excellent - which reassured us somewhat and was an obvious help. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room, which is a delightful room to take your breakfast in. The atmosphere is very relaxed, warm and friendly and I must mention the two ladies who run the breakfast room, Dhoka and Dayna, who continually work hard with a smile on their faces and ever ready to present you with a cappuccino, even when run off their feet with hotel breakfast guests. The breakfast is faultless and plentiful with a range to suit all tastes. On entry to the breakfast room Dhoka and Dayna encourage you to sit on any table to suit you, and you can choose as much or as little from the breakfast dishes offered around the room on a self serve basis. The ambience of the breakfast room is very relaxing and you do not really notice Dhoka and Dayna working so hard around you. There is no evening meal offered at this hotel. Our room was a twin room and whilst adequate, we felt the bathroom was a bit small. There was no room to change in there. However the shower was a generous size and it was a good shower. The beds were delightfully comfortable, but not so with the pillows. There was a leaflet offering a variety of pillows for preference by contacting Reception. We asked for more pillows, which were brought immediately, but we just did not find them that comfortable - but that could be us! Without doubt I would recommend this hotel. Above all the one thing that stood out for us is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, making you feel very relaxed and reassured. When we arrived Michael was on the front desk and he was very welcoming. During our stay we asked him for Swiss restaurant recommendations, of which he gave us three but they were all full! (Book in advance is my advice). One of them kindly squeezed us in sharing with another couple but his recommendations were spot on as these three restaurants were full with locals for a reason. When we came to leave, due to a late flight, we were able to securely leave our cases at the hotel, with Nicolas kindly taking charge over that. You are given a number for collection of your luggage. All the staff at this hotel were so polite, courteous, considerate - and friendly rather than business-like - which is what you want on holiday. Without doubt I would recommend this hotel - and thank the staff for such a warm welcoming stay."
