"An Honest Review of Tigotan Tenerife ☀️🍹 First of all, we arrived about an hour before check-in, and thankfully, they already had a room ready for us! The reception staff were lovely and welcomed us with a glass of cava while checking us in. 🥂 We were initially allocated a room on the first floor, but we asked if there was anything higher up. Luckily, they had another room available on the 5th floor, which we were delighted with! Unfortunately, there was an issue with the card machine that day, so a member of staff had to walk us to our room and show us where everything was which was a bit of a bonus rather than a hindrance. 🛏️ The Room Our room was on the 5th floor and had a lovely view overlooking the pool. However, we didn’t get any sun on the balcony during the day, which was a little disappointing. The room itself was quite tired and could definitely do with some updating. The base of the bed was particularly dirty, with visible marks on it. On the positive side, there was a decent amount of wardrobe space, plenty of hangers, a complimentary bottle of water and a small fridge to keep drinks cool. We also rented the safe for €2.50 per day. 🚿 The Bathroom Unfortunately, the bathroom was probably the biggest letdown of our stay. We experienced a leak, although, to be fair, the staff were prompt in dealing with it once we reported it. The bidet was rusted on the inside, and the shower was over the bath. Trying to regulate the water temperature was a nightmare — it seemed to be either extremely hot or extremely cold, with very little in between! Overall, the bathroom definitely needs an upgrade. 🧹 Cleaning We seemed to have different cleaners throughout our stay, and the standard of cleaning varied from day to day. Our main concern was the bathroom, as there were still visible marks on the bath and sink after cleaning. We also weren’t convinced the floors were being properly washed. That said, we do appreciate the hard work of the housekeeping team and the time they put into looking after the rooms. 🏊‍♀️ The Pool Area Absolutely AMAZING! ❤️ The pool was cleaned every day, and the whole area was really well maintained. The only downside was the lack of sunbeds for the number of guests staying at the hotel. We had to get up pretty early to secure a bed, and we preferred the Bali beds as some of the other sunbeds were a little uncomfortable. Despite this, we made it work and had an amazing time by the pool every single day! Just to note you can get fresh towels from 10am everyday and pay a refundable deposit of 20€ for these so no need to bring towels. 🍳 The Food Breakfast was included in our package, and OH MY GOD — what a spread every morning! 🤩 There was such a fantastic selection of fresh food, and everything we tried was lovely. Breakfast was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The pool bar food was more your average holiday poolside food, but it did the job, and most of the staff were friendly. 🎤 The Entertainment — The Highlight of Our Stay! Saving the best until last! A HUGE shout-out to Jente, Tomas, Luca and Fran. 👏❤️ These guys genuinely made our holiday! They kept everyone entertained every day with games, water aerobics and plenty of fun around the pool. The evening entertainment was brilliant too, with different options depending on what you fancied: 🎉 Café del Mar for a party atmosphere. 💃 Poolside for shows and entertainment. 🍹 The indoor bar for quizzes, bingo and a more relaxed evening. There really was something for everyone, and the entertainment team brought so much energy and fun to our stay. They deserve so much credit for making the experience special! ❤️ Final Thoughts All in all, we had a WONDERFUL stay at Tigotan Tenerife! Yes, there are areas that need improvement, particularly the bathrooms, room condition and housekeeping standards. However, the fantastic pool area, incredible breakfast, friendly staff and, above all, the amazing entertainment team made our holiday one to remember. We would absolutely consider coming back again. And one final bonus? The adults-only atmosphere! We weren’t sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved it. "Disappointing gastronomy, questionable exclusive upgrade, a concerning hygiene incident, outdated facilities, and numerous additional costs. Our stay at the Tigotan Lovers & Friends unfortunately did not meet our expectations for a four-star hotel. One incident in the pool restaurant was particularly negative: Our ordered drinks were accidentally served at the neighboring table, where a guest was already drinking from one of them. We observed the waiters taking the drinks back, adding ice cubes, replacing the straws, and then serving us the same drinks. For us, hygienically absolutely unacceptable. The buffet did not impress us in terms of freshness or quality. The selection of fish and meat was very small, and the composition seemed poorly thought out. The paid Half Board Exclusive offered us hardly any added value: a very limited snack selection and self-service for drinks without a bartender. We were not explicitly informed at check-in that drinks at dinner would be charged separately. The facilities were also disappointing: musty-looking, worn-out hallways and elevators, as well as an outdated television with a Spanish user interface, frequent freezing, no smartphone mirroring, and a non-functioning Netflix login. Room service was not offered. Without the Exclusive package, additional costs for the safe and pool towels also apply according to the terms we were told. Conclusion: We do not expect luxury, but a reasonable balance between price, advertised standard, and actual performance. We could not find the paid upgrade to be worthwhile. The way the drinks were handled, in particular, significantly damaged our trust. For us, the price-performance ratio is not right. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend it."
