"Fantastic Week at OLE Tropical Tenerife – We’ll Be Back!
We’re on our last day at OLE Tropical Tenerife today, and after a fantastic week here, I wanted to share our experience before we head home. My wife and I have had a brilliant holiday and would definitely return.
We stayed in room 623, which had a great view down towards the sea. The room was comfortable, we slept really well and had no real issues with noise. The air conditioning worked brilliantly, and the large fridge was ideal for keeping our own drinks cold. Our room was cleaned every day, and the housekeeping team deserve a real credit for the standard they maintained.
The food was good, with plenty of choice, and we certainly never went hungry!
All of the staff have been excellent, but a special mention has to go to Tamas, the entertainer. Coming from Glasgow, we have a saying: “People make Glasgow.” Well, Tamas certainly makes OLE Tropical! He was absolutely brilliant, really funny and fantastic at getting everyone involved. We played water polo, running carpet, darts, archery, killer pool and putting. My advice is to get involved — it really adds to the holiday and the atmosphere was great.
We also paid to use a cabana every day, which worked out at around £17 per day. You can pay more if you want cava, but we never bothered. We had Cabana 3, which was right beside the pool and got the sun from around 10am until late. We highly recommend booking a cabana for your whole stay if you can. It saves you having to get up early to put towels down, and we found the standard sun loungers quite uncomfortable. They do have an adjustable section in the middle for your legs, but for us the cabana was definitely worth it.
If you're planning on spending most of your time sunbathing, it's worth knowing how the sun moves around the pool area. The big pool gets the sun first, and it gradually works its way around towards the smaller dipping pool. The dipping pool area can therefore be shaded for a while, but it gets the sun again for the rest of the day. The area down by the bar is probably the best place if sunbathing is your main priority, as it gets the sun all day.
Getting a sun lounger directly around the pool can be a bit of a pain, which was another reason we preferred having the cabana.
There is a bar down by the pool, but there isn't an indoor bar. In the evening, the seating is at the bar next to the stage, where the entertainment takes place.
My wife also had a massage during our stay, which she thoroughly enjoyed, so that's another option worth considering.
You can also hire towels from the hotel, which is handy if you don't want to take your own.
There is a gate down by the bar which gives you easier access to the shops and surrounding area. Just remember that the gate is only open from 8am until 9pm, and you'll need your room key to gain access.
There's also a 24-hour supermarket directly across the road, and it's around a 10-minute walk to the Veronica's strip.
We also used taxis twice — once to Costa Adeje to visit family and once to the Golden Mile — and both journeys were only around €5, so taxis were very reasonable.
We didn't really use the evening entertainment much as we usually went out after dinner, but Tamas certainly makes the daytime entertainment worth getting involved in!
Overall, we’ve had a brilliant week. The hotel, staff, food, location and atmosphere have all been excellent. There are always little things that could be improved in any hotel, but for us the positives far outweighed any negatives.
A special thank you to Tamas for making us laugh and getting everyone involved, and to all the staff at OLE Tropical for making our stay so enjoyable. We’re sad to be leaving, but we’ll definitely be back!"
