Sunwing Fanabe Beach

"We were allocated a room on the 5th floor which took ages to get up and down from because of the distance from all the facilities. If we returned we’d request a lower floor. We had food in our room and didn’t see any cockroaches or ants at all. Breakfast was more than adequate with a huge selection and always warm enough. The fact there was so much choice made up for it being mostly the same selection every day. Not sure what people could find to complain about, but we were breakfast only. There are so many restaurants nearby we were glad we’d not chosen all inclusive. We didn't see towels removed from unoccupied beds, even at 9.30. Although it wasn’t UK half term the Nordic countries were on school holidays so all the beds had gone by 10.30 - 11am on the sunnier days. On cloudier days you could always find one. The children’s programme was good. We only came in at the end of a couple of the shows and they did seem poorly attended. The kids entertainment seemed to benefit the Nordic countries rather than the UK. For example, they only had one song in English at the kids disco and there were only 3 books in English in the kids club room. The Internet was spotty and constantly dropped out both in our room and around the pool which was frustrating. Some days were better than others. The reception team was extremely helpful, even supplying a tiny screwdriver to replace some batteries in a toy. Don’t bother with the little train that runs up to Playa De Las Americas. There are two loops and if you want to go on the second loop you have to get off and wait for 30 minutes half way around for another train. Neither route is scenic. There wasn’t much of interest at either stops. This area felt run down and grubby compared to Costa Adeje. Reception called us a taxi to Siam Mall on a cloudy day at a cost of €10 each way. The queue for the return taxi appeared long but it went down very quickly. There are enough shops (including large chains) to kill a couple of hours. The only real criticism of this hotel is the fact that there are no staff lifts so they ride up and down in the guest lifts and laugh in your face as the doors close on you as they are travelling up and down with carts. This was compounded by maintenance being carried out so the workmen were also using them. We had a buggy and being on the 5th floor we had no choice but to wait. All my previous experiences with hotels are that if there are no service lifts staff have to get out of the guest lifts to allow guests in. The whole hotel seems to be kept spotlessly clean which is a rare find for this price bracket in the Canaries. There is plenty to do within walking distance to occupy children and lots of restaurants. I would return to this hotel but childless guest need to be aware that it’s focused on families and is very loud and splashy for adults without children."

"lovely stay in royal deluxe suit. Room spotless and cleaned daily with fresh towels. bottle of water daily, snacks and fresh fruit left in room. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially nadine out of mini mart who had to deal with my friend dropping his wallet and then the waiter who had to deal with him when he dropped a plate and smashed it. The pool was lovely and clean no sunbed wars. breakfast was lovely."

"Just back from a wonderful week in sunwing fanabe. The hotel is beautiful, spotless, modern and the perfect location to access the shops, restaurants and beach. We couldn't fault the hotel apart from the lack of entertainment for my 10 year old son, teen club never seemed to be open but maybe wrong time of year. We stayed b&b and the breakfast was really nice with a decent choice available, our room 528 was clean, spacious and ideal for us as a family of 3 on the top level. The staff were all so lovely and welcoming, the onside shop is really handy and staff lovely too. Will definitely return one day 😊"
