Hovima Santa Maria

"One star missing, only due to the unbearable heat , no Aircon and no extractor fan in the windowless bathroom, so I had very little sleep, even tho everything goes quiet after midnight.. other than that, I loved it. Food was varied, breakfast had so much choice..evening meals catered for most tastes, no drinks supplied with dinner, all must be bought, or added to your room and paid on checkout., but we were informed about this. All staff were pleasant and helpful. (10/10)The hotel is so close to all amenities, the beach is minutes away. Added bonus is, we were able to get an extended checkout for a few euros extra, and as our flight was late evening, it meant we didn't have to find things to do from midday, well happy(that's an extra half star) ..I'd definitely bring my daughter and grandson here for a holiday.. "We stayed 10 nights half board at the Hovima Santa Maria and had a great time. The pool areas are nice and we never struggled to get a sunbed. We were able to swap dinner for lunch whenever we wanted and the food was always good, plenty of choice. The only thing to let the food down was the hot breakfast, this was warm and you could tell it had been sat out a while. The room was good however didn’t have air conditioning, this wasn’t made clear through love holidays although I was aware before arrival after reading other reviews. When it’s 30 degrees and you have one fan that blows hot air this is not suitable. We asked at reception if there was anything they could do and we received an air conditioning unit to our room within minutes which helped a lot. I do think any hotel in this climate should have air con as standard. The hotel is in a great location and the only downside we found was the lack of air conditioning"
