Hovima La Pinta Beachfront Family Hotel

"We chose this hotel as many reveiws raved about how child friendly it was. We stayed with a 3 year old and 1.5 year old and it definitely wasn't anything special for either of them. You have the 'baby club' (0-4 years) - my 3 year old is a small child, not even classed as a toddler anymore. There was nothing in the baby club for her. And even at that, there wasn't much happening to entertain other children who had been left there by parents. The kids club 4 years+ would have been more appropriate for my little girl yet they have some crazy rule that they can't go even if parents stay. All other organised activities seemed to be geared towards older children. Pool...the pools were absolutely not heated. My children love the water and attend swimming lessons every week yet my little boy was screaming going into the swimming pools there as they were so cold. So basically a freezing pool and no proper small children's activities made for long days for little ones. Food...I don't know what other people are eating at home to say this food is good, it was absolutely awful. Just random undercooked food covered in sauce. A whole side of the buffet dedicated to pizza. I actually took a bowl of some sort of chicken salad back to the kitchen staff and said to them this chicken is pink and I have small children eating in here. The guy showed a colleague and they had a wee laugh about it. Another day I was looking for plain yogurt and asked the staff if they had any and the lady said, no, it will arrive later today...sorry, but surely this should be one of the basics that should always be kept stocked up. Not everyone wants to eat syrup and cakes for breakfast. Funnily enough, we have all arrived home ill. My little girl spewed all the way back on the flight. Ps we visit Tenerife twice a year and always go at least half board, and have never complained. Mini disco was a hit with my kids and staff seemed nice enough."

"We recently stayed at HOVIMA La Pinta Beachfront Family Hotel and unfortunately, we wouldn’t return. Pros: - The entertainment team were good, especially for young children. The mini disco from 8:15–8:45pm was a highlight for our little one. we usually went out for the night then returned for the start of the disco. - The location is excellent — very close to the beach, bars, and restaurants. Lots of lovely restaurants nearby! Easy taxi into Las Americas. - The room itself was always cleaned to a good standard. Cons: - The food was honestly horrendous. I’m not sure what people are eating who describe it as “good” in other reviews. - Lunch and dinner for kids was almost always the same: nuggets, chips, pizza. - Adult options felt random and didn’t resemble proper meals — usually one questionable meat option that often didn’t seem well cooked. - Breakfast was chaotic every morning. Kids picking up food with their hands, people pushing and shoving, and tables being wiped with dirty cloths by staff. We actually dreaded going down each day. We booked half board plus and ended up eating out every night except once. Thank goodness we didn’t go all inclusive — it would have been a complete waste. The food was tasteless and nothing like the photos. The reality felt more like a noisy school canteen. - The hotel is very tired and in need of refurbishment. - The beds were awful. My 2-year-old slept on the sofa bed where you could feel the springs, and the main bed was rock solid. - While not directly the hotel’s fault, there were many rude guests — lots of pushing and queue-jumping which added to the stressful dining experience. - No gym — not an issue for everyone, but worth noting if this matters to you. - The lifts were frustrating. Only two in the whole hotel and no up/down system — just one button. You could go from floor 2 to 4 via floor 0, which made getting around slow and annoying. - Sunbeds needed reserving before 9.30am if you wanted one. This is definitely not a 4-star experience. We’ve travelled widely and stayed in everything from luxury hotels to hostels, and this was honestly one of the worst stays we’ve had with our child. The location was the saving grace — if it hadn’t been so good, we would have seriously considered moving hotels. I did raise concerns about the food during our stay and was essentially told to write a review — so here it is."

"I had an excellent stay at this hotel-truly a 5-star experience. The reception staff were outstanding!!! (Especially Cathy and Angela) Friendly, professional and very helpful from the moment I arrived. All the staff were attentive and welcoming. The food was delicious with great variety, the hotel was spotless, and the facilities were modern and very comfortable. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!"
