"Summer holiday. We had a lovely week at Playa real.
Hotel
The hotel was of good size, an impressive design with all rooms in the main hotel facing the pool and the sea. Hotel was spacious and clean. On arrival to our room we were made to feel special marking our wedding anniversary. We had a suite in the main building, it had lovely views and it was so quiet. Air con was good. The room (and hotel really) did lack a bit of personality white walls with no pictures/ decorative items and they could be modernised. The family annexe was next door and by the pool with the slides. The pools were lovely the main was a lovely depth and great temperature. The kids spent hours in them! We never struggled to get a sunbed but they have space to have more beds and umbrellas so should have more. Quite a lot of the sunbeds didn't have the headrest part so it was difficult to sit up and there wasn't any tables to put your drinks.
Food
Food was available through most of the day being all inclusive. Breakfast - good selection each day, eggs, pancakes cooked fresh some smoothes. We would have like breakfast to be on until 10.30 it was always a bit of a rush after late nights! We didn't go to the restaurant lunch as it seemed the same as dinner. We loved the snack bar, it had sandwiches, salads, burgers, chips and different meat each day such as chicken wings and fish bites. Also fruit, cake and ice cream in pots. It didn't affect us but the snack bar was only on till 4 or 430 so if you wanted to feed the kids before a later dinner at 7pm you had to plan this earlier. Dinner was good we sat outside everyday. Dinner was fine not the best variety and I think the pudding selection could be improved.
Drinks
There is a pool bar where pepsi, a different branded fanta orange and lemon, 7up etc and you could help yourself (also at the other pool) Amstrel beer on tap. There was a list of cocktails included but they were all pre made and not the best. They could have done with a mocktails list. We kept asking for kids mocktails and got something different every time! I would have also preferred reusable larger drinking cups. Sangria, wine and the soft were also available at dinner.
Entertainment
The staff are so lovely and friendly and included everyone. We did find the mini disco a little repetitive I think they could have used more songs. The magician was good. We didn't use the mini club. Usual activities of aqua gym, darts, water carpet available.
Local area.
Lovely views of the mountains one side, and it's about 15 mins walk to the beach. It is a little steep but very doable. Shops, restaurants all nearby. There is a children play area only two minutes from the hotel.
Jungle Park. A fantastic animal park really close. I think it's a shame it's not advertised more with the hotel it's all focus on loro parque. Jungle park is set out in a rainforest setting and even has a toboggan ride. Tickets can be bought directly from reception and there is a free shuttle bus from outside the Duke shops which is about 5-7 mins away. Worth a visit! There is a tourist train that runs hourly and picks up outside GF fanabe note they only take cash! We were a little disappointed most of the trip is on the road and not along the seafront. The seafront is lovely really well maintained and lots of shops and restaurants. We only had one beach day, the sea was quite rough for little ones. They loved walking on the jut out to spot crabs. The sand is very black so is so hot to walk on. We bought an umbrella and didn't pay the around 18 euros for hire. Beach toilets are attended and cost a euro to use!
