Costa Adeje hugs the shoreline on Tenerife’s south-west coast. It’s fronted by golden beaches and backed by mountains with peaks so sky-high they get lost in the clouds. The whole place feels tropical, with palm trees, shrubs and blooms blanketing the entire resort. Thanks to its high-end hotels, fine dining restaurants and designer shopping scene, this is Tenerife’s most upmarket resort. Holidays to Costa Adeje tend to revolve around the beach and hotel spas by day, and involve good meals and cocktails with live music after dark. In areas like Playa del Duque, expect mood-lit restaurants overlooking the beach, and just a couple of low-key bars. Menus in these parts are pricier than the rest of the island, but the food is top-notch. Expect a heavy seafood influence, with local specialities like Galician octopus tempting tastebuds.
