Sevillian charm in spades
Housed in a traditional Andalusian-style mansion In Seville’s northern quarter, San Gil is a great spot to base yourself for a couple of days spent exploring all that this city has to offer. If you’re happy to stretch your legs, most of the sights are no more than a half hours’ walk away, but there’s a fairly good bus network here, too, with a stop just four minutes’ walk from the hotel.
If the Royal Alcazar is top of your list – and it definitely should be – it’s reachable in about 25 minutes on foot, or about 20 minutes by bus. Once you’re there you can tick off another couple of sights easily, as the Seville Cathedral and La Giralda Tower are practically next door. Stroll a few minutes further and you’ll find Plaza de Espana and Maria Luisa Park, the latter of which is one of the city’s largest green spaces.
If you fancy a break from the sightseeing, the hotel has got you covered. Head up to the terrace and you’ll find an outdoor pool with a smattering of sun loungers, perfect for whiling away an afternoon with a good book. There’s a charming internal courtyard tucked away here, too, with Cypress trees, fountains, and a lovely laid-back atmosphere.
The foodie offering at the hotel is typically Sevillian, so expect to eat like a local. The day starts with a generous buffet breakfast, while the evening menu is a selection of tapas and Andalusian delicacies. There’s a bar with a terrace, too, so those mid-morning coffees and late afternoons cocktails will be taken care of.
