Too small, too smelly

"After negociating one of the many-pillared parking garages that Spain’s hotels seem to specialize in, we were checked in by two very friendly ladies. After some searching ( the place is somewhat labyrinthic in its lay- out), we opened the door to our room, to be welcomed by a damp, all- penetrating stench of sewer and mold. We went down to the friendly ladies and requested another room. There was none to be had; it was weekend, and everything ( bigger rooms, too) was fully booked. If we were going on our city walk, maintenance would solve the problem. When we returned a few hours later, maintenance had solved the problem by … employing a spraycan of ‘fresh’ air deodorant. So: back to the lovely ladies behind the frontdesk. As luck ( or said ladies) would have it, this time there turned out to be another room. - Now, if you are not a gnome, this may not be the hotel for you. The rooms are exceptionally SMALL ( 10,5 square metres) ( including bathroom: 15 square metres) and that is hardly enough space to open two hardshell cabin-luggage size suitcases. Also, the beds are narrow: 1.40 metres. You must REALLY like your travel companion to make that work. There are some larger rooms to be had of some 14.5 square metres, with a shallow desk and a chair. The opaque glass partition between the bed ‘room’ and the bathroom could pass forva door, if it were not for the fact that the pane shows a one centimetre gap all around, and ‘ floats’ in the doorpost, allowing a merry exchange between the two spaces of all sorts of sounds and fumes. Also, the beds are not just small, they are ‘ wobbly’. Get in, and feel the legs almost buckle under any weight. Price/quaity: hmm."

"Hotel not exactly central but we had a good stay, cleanliness and kindness, the only thing I did not like was that unfortunately people smoked on the patio and the bedroom windows are there and therefore we could not keep the window open. A piece of advice? Ban smoking on the patio..the breakfast is excellent!"
