"Beautiful Location, But Sadly Let Down by Poor Food and Unprofessional Service First and foremost, Son Parc in Menorca is an absolutely beautiful location. The beach, scenery and peaceful surroundings are simply stunning. If you’re looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle, it’s a fantastic place to visit. The accommodation was comfortable, the cleanliness was excellent, and I genuinely couldn’t fault the beautiful surroundings. However, the food and restaurant service were a completely different story. Having worked as a professional chef for over 35 years, I appreciate good food, variety, presentation and, above all, value for money. Unfortunately, the dining experience fell well below my expectations. While there was a reasonable selection of salads and cold dishes, the hot food choices were extremely disappointing. On some evenings, there appeared to be only two meat options, such as frozen chicken nuggets and chicken wings, accompanied by chips and frozen vegetables. For the price people pay to stay here, I would expect a considerably better standard of food, particularly during the evening meal. The lack of imagination, variety and quality was very disappointing. Another frustration was the limited availability of tea and coffee in the evenings. The machines were switched off, leaving guests with very little choice unless they purchased drinks separately. Again, not what I would expect from a holiday establishment. Unfortunately, one particular member of the restaurant staff made my experience even worse. I purchased a can of Coca-Cola from the shop within the complex for approximately €1 and brought it into the dining room. I genuinely didn’t realise this would be an issue, particularly as I had purchased it on the premises. One male waiter took exception to this, and what should have been a simple, polite explanation of the restaurant’s rules became a completely unnecessary and uncomfortable situation. I apologised, but rather than allowing the matter to rest, he continued making an issue of it and discussing it with other colleagues. I found his attitude rude, obnoxious and extremely unprofessional. I was left feeling embarrassed and uncomfortable over something as trivial as a can of Coke. A quiet, courteous word would have been more than sufficient. Instead, a complete mountain was made out of a molehill. Hospitality is about making paying guests feel welcome, not making them feel as though they’ve committed some terrible offence over a simple misunderstanding. It’s such a shame because this location has so much going for it. Son Parc is absolutely stunning, with beautiful beaches and wonderful scenery. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys peace and quiet. However, visitors should be aware that there is very little to do in the evenings, so it may not suit those looking for nightlife or entertainment. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the location, the comfortable accommodation and the excellent cleanliness. Unfortunately, the disappointing food standards and the attitude of one particular waiter significantly affected my overall experience. With better food choices, improved value for money and some much-needed customer service training, this could be a fantastic holiday experience. Would I return to Son Parc? Absolutely. Would I return to this particular establishment? Unfortunately, not unless significant improvements were made. Beautiful surroundings deserve an equally enjoyable hospitality experience, and sadly, on this occasion, that was missing."

"We had an amazing time at this hotel. We stayed for 10 days. The hotel is a lovely place to stay. The pool was a really good size, and there was always plenty of sun loungers. There’s a small pool bar for drinks and snacks, it’s fairly priced. There is also a restaurant where you can sit inside, or outside if you choose. The view from here is amazing as the hotel looks over a beach, it’s something you could never tire of looking at. We ate here and also you can take away pizza too and the food was very tasty. We were in room 129, which was a sea view room, and it did not disappoint. The view was spectacular! We had a good size balcony with a table and four chairs, and there’s a small clothes rack to dry off towels etc which is handy. The living room and kitchen are open plan, it was an L shaped room and for two people was more than big enough. The kitchen comes equipped with a fridge which has a small freezer compartment. A microwave, kettle and toaster, a two ring hob, kitchenware, a few pieces cutlery and other essentials for cooking, a frying pan and a couple of pots, basically simple cooking is totally catered for and we didn’t struggle doing that at all. The bathroom was a decent size. The shower was powerful, and hot, but the shower head didn’t fit properly in the wall fitting, so we held by hand, but honestly we managed fine. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom too. The bedroom was a good size with twin beds pushed together, you have extra blankets and pillows. To be honest I didn’t hold much hope for the beds being very comfy, but I was wrong. We slept great. There is a built in open cupboard, with a safe in also. I would say though if I had to say anything it would be that more storage would be greatly appreciated. We brought more coat hangers, as we’ve learned over the years to do, and it did manage to get the majority of our clothes hung, everything else we folded and put on the bottom of the wardrobe, but there is nowhere for underwear etc so that was put on the bottom shelf too, so maybe a set of drawers? The air con is in the living room and bedroom which was such a must after being out in the 30 degree heat, very much welcomed. The on site shop sells the all the basics you could need, as well as lilos etc for the beach. A good ten minute walk takes you into Sonparc itself with a couple of bars, all serving food, a small supermarket, and a steak restaurant . We went to all of the bars which were great. All friendly, welcoming and not too expensive. We ate twice at the steak restaurant and both times were fabulous. We rented a car through the hotel, which was really reasonably priced. I’d advise doing it if you can. My husband had never driven abroad before but took to it no bother. It gives you so much more freedom, we visited the capital, Fornells, Arenal de castel ( which had a great beach, we had a day there ) and Binibequa ( think that’s how you spell it) and I recommend them all. The staff in the hotel were all extremely friendly, chatty and very helpful. Cleaning was every two days, replacing the towels each time. Also, I have to mention the wild goats! I loved them. They wondered around, bleeting, they were fab, also there was a small baby goats, so cute. I know there is a few reviews that are really quite negative, a lot say the place could do with a little TLC, and yes in some places it could, but all in all we definitely recommend this hotel, and we had such a great stay we have just booked up for a fortnight this coming May!!"
