"We stayed here for a week in late September and had a good time. Having read the reviews in advance, we had decided on bed and breakfast only. Breakfast was more than adequate. Not many items you could think of that weren’t included, although range of individual items was limited (e.g. only 3 cereals and 3 yoghurts to choose from). Lunch items at the pool bar were also fresh and tasty. Bedroom was tired but comfortable, with a couple of slightly broken slats in the wooden floor and scuffed furniture. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom and shower were great, with handwash and shampoo provided. There were limited electrical points close to mirror - only in the bathroom, which wasn’t that helpful when both of us trying to get ready at the same time. Air con was adequate, although the temperature outside was generally tolerable anyway. Having said all of that, we were won over by the location and staff (and Es Castell itself). All staff were generally friendly and welcoming, although Cili on reception and Barbara at the bar stood out for us. In terms of value for money (which is how we measure our stays), it was excellent. So much so, we are returning for a longer stay next year."

"This was a holiday to celebrate a special anniversary. We arrived at the hotel to be informed there was no record of our half board reservation. The receptionist , Carol made phone calls and we were allocated a room - this felt as if it was the only room available . The room had been redecorated and we were told it was an 'upgrade' which it wasn't, it was small, hardly any wardrobe storage space and the cases had to be left out in the room area. We booked a sea view room - told later by easyJet it would be a 'lateral' sea view and our view was over the car park with some view of the harbor. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Food was awful -lukewarm no soup alternative (after complaining it was available for 4 nights of our 9 night stay) We used to have a restaurant in Spain and were inspected regularly as to the temperature of the food with food thermometers - the food temperature at this hotel was not maintained at 65c as required by Spanish law. There was no freshly cooked omelet/eggs etc and previous reviews have detailed this. The first night, as we were a bit late in the dining room - 20 mins after opening the food was so cold and unappetizing we returned to the room for cupasoup I had brought with me. If you book this hotel do not book half board. Personally I would book room only and eat out. Despite previous complaints about the food by others - nothing was done. Very disappointing experience and NOT 4* hotel (we have stayed in many) this is 2/3*"

"We have stayed at the Agamenon several times and have always had a wonderful holiday. I cannot bring myself to give it 4 * as I do love this hotel. However, since the change of ownership the quality of the food has deteriorated. We only ate breakfast and had 1 lunch by the pool. Very disappointing ,Mediterranean sandwich, a 1/2 slice of tomato and a small leaf of lettuce between 2 slices of barely cooked white toast. Breakfast Okay but with smaller choices of cereals and bread. Very poor choice of fruit juice, the orange was synthetic and far too sweet. Eggs luke warm. Thank goodness for the microwave. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the cleaning staff friendly and efficient. The reception staff were very helpful. A special thanks to Cili who greeted us with warmness. She is an asset to your team. I hope the new management sort out the food issues. However the location and views cannot be bettered and w e hope to return to the Agamenon in the near future."
