"At the airport waiting for our flight back with a heavy heart, this was our second visit to Zafiro Menorca and won’t be our last.
We travel as a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children 6 and 4. Our eldest is autistic so I’ll try put as much as possible in to explain why we keep coming back here in terms of it being suitable for the whole family!
All in all this hotel is perfect for us and worth its weight in gold. A genuine opportunity for a relaxed family holiday whist still filled with joy and excitement for the kids. My only negative is that I didn’t book a longer holiday!
Location- Around 45- 60 minutes transfer, we were the first drop and last pick up. Last year we took a taxi which was around €80 euros and took 45 minutes so the transfer was definitely worth it for us this time but if you have a child that struggles with travel maybe look at this; or car hire can be done for around €120 for the whole week, driving here is very easy, we did 2 days car hire and no problems at all!
Pool area- lots of quiet pools around the area, no sunbed wars! We were always able to get 4 together. The resort is split in 2 with a small service road in the middle but hardly used. Each area is fenced and gated (around hip height) which we find great as the kids pirate pool is well away from the large pool and out of sight of the swim up rooms so no worries about the kids wandering into deep water. Also an indoor pool and jacuzzi for if there is bad weather, the pool closed one afternoon due to a thunderstorm so the indoor pool is as perfect to pass the time.
Entertainment- the pool areas are very relaxed with minimal activities in this area which we like as we could just chill out, it still plenty to do around the hotel! The app has the kids activities for the day, the mini club has a small hut with arts and crafts attached to a sandy play park tucked away in the corner of the resort, then they would play games on the terrace in the afternoon with a chance to win a medal at the end of your stay! The entertainment team were amazing with my kids, you could see genuine joy when interacting with them, especially when my eldest was getting super excited and stimming when he got to cross off a square in character bingo! The evening entertainment was better than last year! We love the entertainment area as it’s set away from the pools, it has an indoor and outdoor seating area on the terrace facing the stage and to the left a bouncy castle and play park so you can enjoy your evening whilst the kids play! They play an interactive quiz, one for kids and an adults one which is great fun, my eldest loved playing it on his tablet and seeing his name on the big screen!
Rooms Spacious rooms, large bed, sofa bed that pops up into a double bed for the kids with space to move around. Sliding doors to separate bedrooms if needed. Small kitchen with everything you need, sink area separate to bathroom which is great if your all getting ready and need the mirrors/sink, large walk in shower with overhead fixed shower and also a shower head. Only 1 day that the room isn’t cleaned during the stay. Hotel is only 2 floors but no lift, easy to get a ground floor room if worried about balconies etc. sliding door to balcony has a lock but if you have an eloper I’d recommend bringing an additional lock that you can buy cheap online for extra security, rooms have air con.
Food and drinks- we really enjoy the food at this hotel! The buffet has some things repeated nightly (pasta station, chips, nuggets, pizza) but then different themes every night, we loved the Asian night! They have the meat station open to see so was able to request steaks to be cooked to the right temp, in the morning breakfast was always the same but plentiful! An omelette station, all your usual hot breakfast food, pastries, yogurts, fresh bread, cold meats and fruit. All allergens available to see online and if you speak to the staff they will cook fresh foods to ensure allergen free. The pool bar is great, not your typical snack bar, more à la carte, they take your order at your table and a good selection of foods including burgers, pizza, salads and some Asian plates! Icecream freezer available to get your own or a branded freezer which was to be paid for. Icecream and slush machine next to the bar to use whenever you please!
Nearby activities- 10 minute walk to marina, regular bus to the old town, taxis can be requested at reception.
Safety- Fenced and gated areas, lifeguards on every pool that swap regularly.
Walkability- Beautiful walks to the marina, paths around Cala en Bosch can be quite uneven and not always curb drops so not always the easiest with a pushchair (not the hotel). Hotel has ramps to each area, lift to pool but not to rooms so request ground floor for accessibility needs.
Noteworthy details- Download the App! Entertainment timetables, food info all available!"
