Valentin Star Menorca - Adults Only

"This is a very well run establishment and I have spent two lovely holidays at the Valentin Star as a solo guest. The location is very good - close to shops, bars, restaurants, the marina, the beach, the bus stop to Ciutadella. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean with all you require. I chose a pool view in a quiet part of the garden. Please request this if you want a quiet area away from the pool activity. There is a lovely calm, relaxing atmosphere around the hotel and all the staff, in all the departments are polite and helpful. The restaurant is run very well and has a huge choice of food on offer both at breakfast and dinner. Cava if you wish with breakfast. My only slight disappointment was you could not buy wine by the glass at dinner, only bottles of wine. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday this is an excellent place to try. "Stayed at the Valentin Star mid October. Firstly, the hotel is immaculate. The cleaners obviously work veey hard and this was appreciated as our room was always clean and tidy. We had the ground floor room with a garden area, facing the road I loved this room because it felt very private and we could sit outside and no be overlooked by anyone. The facilities were brilliant. Had an issue with our coffee machine which was very quickly resolved by the friendly reception staff. The shower pressure was fantastic, the room was very large ans the air conditioning was great, especially overnight. I cannot fault the room at all. The hotel itself is beautiful but is definitely aimed towards the older generations. I think the average age was around 70. Very quiet and peaceful but i did feel a bit out of place at times! Almost all the staff spoke very good English and all we're friendly and said good morning every day. My only real complaint about the hotel itseld, is the very small smoking/vaping area. We did feel it would have been nice to have another area for smokers, other than just 20 chairs lined against the back wall! As we went near the end of the season, i believe the staff had been cut down a bit so we did often have to flag someone down to try and get a drink. The buffet restaurant had a good selection of food; a lot of fish and mostly it was well cooked and tasty. I did have an issue with the desserts at the dinner buffet; they were very poor quality and i did try a few different ones but unfortunately, all were either poor or very poor. Valentino restaurant was a lovely place to eat. The food was good but the menu didn't change at all which was a shame, especially if you were there for over a week (we were all inclusive so had use of both restaurants). The entertainment acts were good fun. Soemthing to sinf along to. I think it would be good to have a bit more variation, not just singers. Cala n Bosch is a lovely little marina but we did find it a bit too small for us. There were some lovely walks though, we walked up to watch the sunset which was stunning. My parrner proposed to me while we were watching the sunset so it will always be very special to me! We did hire a car for 2 days and go to Ciutadella for the day which was really good. Just remember that most of the shops shut between 1-5pm!! All in all, the hotel is beautiful, the staff are fantastic and i believe if you want a very relaxed holiday when you're 60+, you couldn't go wronf with the Valentin Star. "Stayed for a week, speedy check in, bags taken to our room and by the pool in half an hour. We had a large spacious room with a balcony overlooking the pool, well worth the extra money, cleaning was a very good standard, large bottles of quality shampoo, shower gel and hand soap, good pressure of water in shower. Tea, coffee , biscuits topped up daily, mini bar fridge to keep things cool. We went half board, perfect for us, long meal times meant there was no need to eat during the day due to fantastic selection of food provided, something for everyone. Plenty of quality meat and fish, salads, bread, cheeses, pasta, rice etc, had some really lovely pan fried salmon fillets, roast beef and gammon, pork and beef steaks cooked fresh in front of you. Breakfast equally good, so much choice, omelettes and pancakes cooked fresh. Vincente as a maitre d' was so obliging and polite, George never stopped, always busy replenishing the items and crockery, all staff polite and efficient in the restaurant. We charged all of our drinks to the room and paid at the end of the week, reasonable for what we had. The bar and pool areas were clean and well furnished, always a sun bed available, a few pool activities which were fun to watch. The other guests were quite mature, so this is not a loud or rowdy hotel, just very relaxing with a lot of return visitors, the entertainment at night was on from 9,00pm and finished usually about 10.30, easy going and a few people dancing and singing, once over , everything went quiet which was nice. Resort quieter due to time of year, had a few days out on the bus, a relaxing break , highly recommended , thank you everyone there who looked after us so well"
