"We arrived back after 10 days at Casa Del Lago just last week and had a lovely stay.
HOTEL
On arrival, we were warmly greeted by the reception team and offered a free welcome drink while we checked in (wine and beer). As we were there before the check-in, the room was not quite ready, so headed to the pool area.
One checked in (garden suite 68) first impressions were that the room was a good size, with the main bedroom and bathroom separated from the living room area by a door. Our 16 year old daughter was sleeping in there and it was fairly large. It also included a breakfast bar and fridge which was filled with beer and soft drinks on the first day.
The room was cleaned every day and each night, the staff delivered a little treat (e.g some biscuits) to the room.
We were on bed and breakfast and the selection was fantastic in the morning. They make fresh coffee for you and there is also a fresh orange juice machine which was great. In terms of the food selection, there were lots of hot options, including English bacon and sausages (!), as well as hash browns, eggs, fresh bread, pastries, cheeses, smoked salmon and lots more.
POOL AREA
The hotel itself is very clean and the pool area not too big. On the first day, we had beds on the gravel area which as others have said is very hot and not easy to walk on. For the rest of the stay, we reserved a Bali bed in advance which was charged to the room. It's great value at €40 per day (€60 on pool party days - Tuesday and Saturday) as you can spend the money at the bar on drinks (not food). The team provide a buzzer for the bed so you can order drinks from the waiting staff. No-brainer - book one for each day of your stay when you arrive! Tip: Book one of the beds on the left side (we had B9) as you get a bit more shade when it is hot. Special shout-out to Ethan around the pool who is brilliant.
The drinks are reasonably priced - draft beer (Mahou) around €6 and cocktails €12-15. You can use your Bali bed balance at the swim-up bar as well which is a great spot to hang out and get some shade if needed. No need to carry cash or take your card as you can charge everything to your room. Special mention to Liber behind the swim-up bar who is fantastic!
Every day, they have a DJ in the afternoon which is a nice touch and on the pool party days, a saxophonist or Cellist as well. There was a great atmosphere while we were there and a pretty varied age range - from early 20's to 60's, but everyone was very friendly. All the people we spoke to thought that hotel was fantastic.
You can also order food from the Thai restaurant for around the pool and in addition to that, they have a smaller menu with things like tacos, burger, club sandwich, Caesar salad, french fries, etc. Pricing was €20 for a club sandwich and fries, but good size portions.
Great little touches such as fresh fruit in the afternoons, pick and mix sweets and the entertainment desk, plus ion occasion, free shots around the pool!
LOCAL AREA
For those that enjoy the beach, it's right across the road less than a two-minute walk away from the reception.
There is a half board and gastro experience available to book (with Jet2) which lets you try from a set menu from one of the hotel's partner restaurants in the Marina. We didn't go for this as there are so many nice restaurants on the Marina which is right next to the hotel. We had excellent meat and seafood throughput the holiday and didn't have a bad meal anywhere! Particular highlights were Mr Jaume (excellent Red Snapper for two), Piccolo (Italian, with amazing steak), Aquarium (freshly made paella). Just slightly further away (10 minute walk) is the Cap D-Artrutx restaurant at the lighthouse - I would definitely recommend booking a table here for sunset which you can do via reception at the hotel. Stunning views and lovely food.
There are two supermarkets very close selling basics and fresh bread, just over the footbridge to the marina. On the other side of the Marina, but still only a 5-minute walk, is a larger supermarket called Top Market, which has everything you might need.
