"In a snapshot..... this is such a clinical hotel it felt like my soul left me while here. It is perfectly fine, perfectly clean and nothing really wrong....but....not quite right either. The key question is would you return and that's a hard pass from me.
For context, very well travelled couple in mid 50s.
The details:
Nice welcome, glass of fizz on arrival. Check in smooth. Reception is opposite in Gran Sagiterio.
Rooms:
Fine.. but it's the details for me. No hooks to hang towels on, toilet is a separate cubicle within the shower room, so you can have a steamed s**t if you want. One small bathroom bin. Waste and recycling bins in the corridors but no explanation in your room info as to what is expected. Two bottles of water on arrival but that's it. Comfy bed. Quiet.
Food and drink:
The water used for tea at breakfast and in the bottles provided tastes soapy. It's very odd. It's like the water from the taps, so i can only assume they fill them from there. I don't mean that in a 'i only drink filtered bottled water from Waitrose ' way. It was just really not pleasant.
Bottled water from the shop is better.
Breakfast:
I have no idea why people rave about this. Honestly, unless you've eaten gruel for your entire life. The yoghurt was nice though. The orange juice was so sour. The toast was fine. It's toast. My partner ordered a few of the hot breakfasts - salmon bagel, eggs benedict and the like. After a barely cooked egg with all the slime he asked for a harder poached egg and was told it was not possible as it was not cooked on site but brought in. (I assume from the Gran opposite). The hard boiled eggs tasted really weird and rubbery. They actually do bounce. The rest just weird, plastic and tasteless. They do serve fizz for breakfast though, maybe to take the edge off it 😂 It's on the bar though so you kinda feel like an alcoholic with everyone watching you get it.
On the strength of breakfast, no way was I eating any dinner there. Breakfasts was something to 'get through. '
Facilities:
You get a three hour pass to the spa every day if you want. You need to book though. And the sauna and steam room don't start until 3.30pm. We went at 9.30am and they had to ask management if it was okay to put the steam and sauna on early. They did. Nevertheless why would you want three hours in an indoor pool without the extras. Might as well be outside. No explanation of what was on offer on arrival, no drinking water spout, no towels, just a yeah, go in.
Outside Pool area: Good.
Very peaceful, nice not to have music blaring out. Always room to get a lounger. Despite the fastidious cleaning regime everywhere else the poolside tables were not cleaned nor the pool ground mopped at all, so trails of ants and sticky floors. Pool is very cold. The sea is warmer. Very nice chilled space though and enjoyed using it.
Cleanliness and general vibe
Obsessive cleanliness. Except pool area. Think clinical / dentists waiting room / Internet cafe / asylum. White tiles. No pictures. Office blinds. Few plants. It's where souls come to die.
Staff:
Courteous. Pleasant. But ultimately not that interested
WiFi:
Kep disconnecting in room. Fine by pool. Hotel not interested in resolving.
Bar:
Drink prices very reasonable - €4 cava, €6 a beer. Ask for nuts. They are free but they don't give them unless asked.
Location:
High point. Beautiful bays for swimming literally round the corner. Had a lovely couple of days there. TOP TIP: There is a large 'bin' next to the 112 SOS cabin for people to leave stuff to reuse, like beach parasols, seats, umbrellas etc - worth grabbing one for the week and leaving at the end of your stay. Five restaurants within easy walking distance. The smash burgers at Odeum Surf Bar were the best EVER.
Overall it was a decent stay for laying in the sun, but i would class this as basic and sadly would not return."
