"We stayed for a week in the HM Isabela, Santa Ponsa, and had a great stay. (Myself, my wife, and our older teenage daughter shared two rooms).
The hotel reopened in 2025 after a full refurbishment, and would certainly rate as one of the nicest hotels in Santa Ponsa. It has a fresh and modern aesthetic, tastefully decorated, and is air conditioned throughout the ground floor lounge bar area/ reception, and dining room.
We stayed on a B&B basis, but ended up dining in the hotel on 3 or 4 nights during our stay. Each night offered a generous fresh buffet selection (themed as Mallorcan/ Mexican/ Chinese etc), with a wide selection of starters, main courses and desserts on offer. The hot food counters were constantly being replenished with fresh fare, and a cook was also on hand cooking breakfast eggs/ pancakes/ omelettes to order, or fresh fish or other dishes in the evening. I would rate the quality of the food as very good to excellent, and at 24 Euro per head (excluding drinks), offers decent value for money.
Rooms are fairly small, but well equipped, with a handy mini fridge and room safe. The rooms are made-up daily, with fresh towels etc. and pool towels are available from reception on a 10 Euro deposit. The bathrooms are well fitted out, with an excellent shower & toiletries provided. Each room also has a small balcony with table and chairs, overlooking the grounds/ pool terrace, and the AC worked well enough to combat the 35 degree + heat! Rooms have a flat screen TV, with Netflix function, so we were able to add our own account for viewing.
Location is a two minute walk from the beach and local tourist shops, and there are a couple of small supermarkets nearby. The hotel also has the 'Irish Soul' bar connected to the hotel main lounge bar, and this is a handy shortcut when walking out to the beach/ town. The Irish bar has it's own food menu, offering lighter bites such as Fish & chips/ Club sandwich etc.
There was live music in the Irish bar/ lounge bar almost every night, which does lend a friendly atmosphere to what is an otherwise mostly quietly environment, with a lot of folk just relaxing there in the evenings with a drink and a game of cards. The hotel does an excellent Sangria by the way!
Staff in all parts of the hotel are very friendly and efficent, everything from arranging car hire & taxis, to providing additional bed linen/ towels on request.
The pool area can get quite busy but there was always a sun lounger or seat to be found. The pool itself is not overly large but is big enough.. as this is an adults only hotel, it's a relaxing space, with no kids allowed! There is a subtle backing track of quiet rock/ pop music played throughout the day, which works really well, loud enough to be noticed, but quiet enough to be unobtrusive and adds to the relaxing 'grown-up' vibe of this hotel.
We booked on a Jet2 package deal and although the hotel is on the pricier end of the scale for Santa Ponsa, overall, it presented good value for money, and I would recommend it to other travellers to the area."
