"Swedish My partner and I have stayed at Riu hotels in different cities and countries before, and we have always had wonderful experiences regardless of the destination. Unfortunately, the stay at this hotel in Mallorca was something completely different – and the worst trip of my life.
Usually, you get a warm welcome at the reception that sets the tone for the entire stay, but here it felt almost like the staff were annoyed that we were checking in. We didn't get any towel cards as we usually get directly. Instead, a deposit of 10 euros in cash was required per card, which feels completely outdated. It felt like they thought we would steal the towels home with us.
The food was a big disappointment. The selection was very limited, and what was served was often either cold or tough and difficult to eat. The staff in the dining room also seemed unengaged. When I tried to get coffee myself in the morning, I was told to sit down and wait for service – a service that never showed up.
The absolute worst thing about the stay was that the hotel basically only seemed adapted for German guests. Despite the fact that we spoke Swedish, English, and a little Spanish, the staff insisted on addressing us in German. Even the welcome bottle and the birthday card for my partner were in German, even though they knew we were from Sweden. We tried to celebrate my partner's birthday and arrange a cake, which has always been very easy at other Riu hotels, but here it couldn't be sorted out smoothly. We finally asked to change to a fruit bowl instead, but they couldn't arrange that either, so we got a piece of chocolate with a paper note.
If you want a relaxing vacation, eat good food, and have a nice reception, this is the right hotel. The hotel caters almost exclusively to German guests, and this week felt like a waste of money. I like Riu in general, but I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.
English We have always heard amazing things about Mallorca, so my partner and I decided to book our trip there through Riu. As loyal Riu guests who have stayed at over 25 different Riu hotels across more than 10 countries with total satisfaction, we trusted the brand blindly. Sadly, this hotel was an absolute disappointment and easily the worst trip of our lives.
From the very beginning, the reception staff made us feel unwelcome, as if they were already annoyed by our presence. Instead of including towel cards like every other Riu hotel we have visited, they demanded a 10-euro cash deposit per card. This caught us completely off guard and forced us to hunt down an ATM just to get beach towels.
The rest of the staff appeared completely exhausted and unhelpful, often turning away when we said hello to chat amongst themselves instead. The breakfast service was a joke: when I tried to get my own coffee in the morning, staff snapped at me to sit down and wait to be served—only for them to never show up. After five or six days of this, it gets beyond frustrating when you are paying for actual service.
The most exhausting part, however, is that this hotel is tailored entirely toward German guests. Despite telling the staff repeatedly that we are from Sweden, they continuously treated us as Germans. Every single message delivered to our room was in German, and when we told them we didn't understand, they simply didn't care. If you are not German, and if you don't enjoy dealing with heavily intoxicated guests screaming, staring you down, or sleeping on the reception floor, this hotel is definitely not for you.
Overall, this hotel treats you like trash despite paying good money. It was a complete waste of time and money, and while I still love Riu, I can never recommend this specific hotel to anyone.
Hungarian: On countless occasions I have stayed at the Riu hotel chain in the most diverse countries in the world, alone and with my partner, but we have never been to Mallorca. After hearing fantastic experiences from our family and friends, we decided to try the island too, but this hotel was a huge and bitter disappointment for us.
The staff's attitude was completely dismissive and uncaring from the moment we arrived; they didn't care at all what we wanted. The service at the dining table was critically low: instead of helping when we asked them multiple times, they were more busy talking to each other or fiddling with their phones. It is incredibly difficult to even give a coffee for breakfast. I overlooked this for the first few days, but after 5-6 days it was specifically nerve-wracking, especially since I couldn't even have coffee myself because they threatened me, saying "sit down, and they will come to me" - which they never did.
In addition, the food was particularly dry and tasteless; the only edible things were the pre-made bread and the cold cuts, while the hot dishes were either completely overcooked or undercooked, and they were soggy in the oil and fat.
One of the most important things I have to mention: if you are not German, or you don't like being among rude, obnoxious people whom you constantly have to avoid around the hotel while they are clinging and shouting, then I do not recommend this place at all. It can be a particularly dangerous and alarming experience for families with young children, especially after what I saw regarding the hotel despite the reception's inaction. The Germans crawled and crawled on the ground, they crawled, and communicated with each other in a threatening tone.
I cannot recommend this hotel from the bottom of my heart to my friends, my family, or anyone else. This whole trip was just a waste of money and time, and we will never come back here or to this area in our lives."
