"I would like to start of this review by saying that I would’ve gave 4.5 stars however that wasn’t an option and 4 felt too low for our experience.
We have just returned from a great 10 night stay at this hotel and have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The first honourable mention has to go to our lovely cleaning lady Juana. She was definitely one of the main highlights of our stay, always being so kind and smiley. She always did a fantastic job of keeping our room clean and took such good care of my teddies whilst doing funny little tricks with them.
A small overview of the hotel itself and rooms I’d say the reception was very beautiful and modern. We were staying on the third floor where we had a lovely pool view/lake view room. The rooms themselves were a little on the smaller side but that didn’t really bother us. The bathroom again was nice and modern however we did have a few issues with the shower where it would just randomly scold us despite us not changing the temperature. We believed that was probably down to poor plumbing. As well as this, we often noticed a foul drainage smell coming from either the bathroom or the air con which was unpleasant at times.
For our stay we went with all inclusive and the benefits definitely did not disappoint. The breakfast was standard with a similar selection each day. What we liked were the fresh pancakes and omelettes made on request. Lunch was definitely our favourite as it was purely for all inclusive members only. We mainly chose to eat at the pool bar rather than go inside. You could either tuck into the buffet or have a fresh meal made for you for no additional cost. We especially enjoyed the Club Sandwich so we’d definitely recommend trying that out. Evening meals were okay but we thought there was always a lot of fish options but rarely ever meaty ones . 8/10 times the pizza selection would be tuna which was really disappointing. Would’ve been better to stick to plain cheese instead to accommodate everyone especially fussier eaters. They did however have some interesting themed nights at the buffet so we got to try out loads of new foods.
Another great feature was the drink selection at the pool bar. For all inclusive members you could chose from a range of cocktails which were delicious. Every day they would have a different ‘special cocktail’ which we loved as again we got to try out new things. We would recommend the Tequila Sunrise and the Special Jamaica cocktail.
However despite all this there were definitely a few things that we think could do with some slight improvement given the 4.5 stars. To start, we soon came to realise there was a huge sun bed war. If you wanted to sit around the pool you will need to get to a bed before 9am otherwise there wouldn’t be any left. There were signs saying you can’t ‘reserve’ beds longer than an hour however people did and there was never anything done about this.
In addition, around the pool they would have a range of different activities you could join such as water aerobics, darts etc. What ruined this experience for me was when joining in with the volleyball game they were taking it really seriously rather than just having fun with it. I have barely ever played volleyball so as you can imagine I wasn’t very good which was made aware by other people and the instructors. Because of this I decided to not join in with anymore activities as it just spoilt the experience.
Finally, the evening entertainment was not really to our taste. That is no fault of the hotel of course, however with it being adults only I was expecting things like bingo and karaoke but it was nothing like that."
