"This hotel pre-charged me the stay days before my arrival. Check-in process forces me to pay AGAIN, they tell me the refund was sent and that they charge in advance when hotel is full. Now, I have paid twice for the same service. Traveller beware."

"Location residencial walk or bus into centre. Older hotel built on hillside. Lots different levels. Had a funicular v handy. Unfriendly check in staff. Room pretty basic no tea coffee. Minibar pay for. Terrace no umbrella or shade. Poor room soundproofing could hear other people banging doors, chatting and cleaners in hallway. Breakfast delicious. Snack bar terrible quality. Good restaurants Porto pi. Poor service snack bar had to ask several times menu and sauces ended up getting it myself. Great views over harbour."

"My friend and I, along with another two friends, booked our stay back in February. We all booked the same room type – standard double rooms. When we arrived yesterday, we were extremely disappointed to discover that our room was completely different from our friends’, despite us all paying for the same category. Our room is significantly smaller, with the bed positioned so close to the entrance that it hits the door when it is opened. There are only two accessible plug sockets in the entire room, both located away from the bedside area. To make matters worse, there were stains on the bed sheets. The most concerning issue was that our balcony door had no lock. As two women travelling together, we immediately raised this with reception because we did not feel safe. The receptionist simply told us the hotel was fully booked and refused to move us to another room. In comparison, our friends’ standard double room is considerably larger and includes a dressing table, additional seating, and multiple conveniently placed plug sockets. It is difficult to understand how these rooms can be sold as the same category. We later spoke to the manager, hoping for a reasonable solution, but the experience only became more disappointing. She was rude, showed no empathy, and did not apologise for the obvious difference in the rooms. The only alternative she offered was a basement room, which is clearly a lower standard than the room we had paid for. She also told us that if we wanted a room comparable to our friends’, we would have to pay extra for a suite. The lack of customer service has been shocking. Instead of acknowledging our concerns and trying to resolve them, we were made to feel like an inconvenience. I am extremely disappointed with this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. If you book a standard double room, there appears to be no guarantee that you’ll receive a room of an equivalent standard to others paying the same price, and genuine safety concerns are not taken seriously."
