El Toro is a small port town situated on Majorca’s south-west coast. It melts into neighbouring Santa Ponsa, a larger and livelier resort. It’s a great choice if you want to stay somewhere fairly peaceful, but close to Majorca’s best bits. Palma, the island’s beguiling capital, is just over a half-hour drive from here, and neon-lit Magaluf is just 10 minutes away if you fancy a night on the town. El Toro Beach is the resort’s heart, a sandy stretch that unravels for 250 metres, lapped by the azure waves of the Balearic Sea. It’s ideal for families, with cafés and ice-cream kiosks nearby, and calm waves just right for tots. Close by, you’ll find the glamorous marina of Port Adriano, which is packed with yachts and overlooked by stylish bars and restaurants, plus a good clutch of designer stores.
