Canyamel Park Hotel and Spa

"Like the annual British golfing group, I have been a regular guest at this superb low-rise hotel for years. Beautifully located in park-like surroundings just minutes from the sea and a small shopping area. Well known for its upmarket, warm and friendly atmosphere. 10/10."

"We were very satisfied at the Canyamel Park Hotel & Spa. The buffet in the evening was very varied, diverse and delicious. Every evening there was a different theme. The breakfast buffet was also extensive. The staff is super sweet and friendly. The room was clean and nice. The hotel grounds (pool, etc.) are also nice and quiet. The beach (2x lounge chairs + umbrella €19.50) is not that crowded and is quiet, especially in the morning. The only negative point was the reception at the hotel; it could have been a little friendlier. There is limited parking in front of the hotel, but after a few laps, you can find one."

"The hotel staff is generally friendly and makes an effort. Unfortunately, however, there were a few points during our 11-day stay that significantly dampened the overall impression. Buffet and service: Although the dinner buffet is officially offered until 9:30 PM, they start clearing it away around 8:50/9:00 PM. First, for example, the risers for the back bowls or the signs are removed. Even if the food is still available at this time, it creates significant unrest and clear time pressure – other guests also visibly found this stressful. Around 9:20 PM, the actual buffet is also cleared away very quickly and to a large extent, without asking beforehand if guests would still like something from the buffet. In addition, there are repeated incorrect labels for the dishes. For example, dishes were labeled as vegan, although it turned out upon serving that there was egg in the corresponding salad bowl. Unfortunately, this was not a one-time incident and is particularly problematic for guests with a vegan diet. A special vegetarian-vegan evening was particularly disappointing: By 8:45 PM, the vegan pancakes were already completely gone. When asked at 9:00 PM and again at 9:05 PM if they would be refilled or freshly prepared, both the cooking staff and the head chef merely stated: "Sorry, it’s finished." With a buffet officially open until 9:30 PM, one should be able to expect that at least it would be refilled or a corresponding alternative would be offered. Room and cleaning: Furthermore, we repeatedly had to deal with ants in the room. Since the rooms were only cleaned sporadically on some days or not at all, they were accordingly not removed regularly. The balcony was also only cleaned twice during the entire 11-day stay. On the remaining days, there was still sand and dirt from the beach there, including from towels and beach blankets. Overall, the staff is generally friendly, but for a longer stay in this price range, we would have wished for significantly more care, reliability, and above all, a service that adheres to the officially stated times."
