The Sea Hotel by Grupotel

"My wife and I booked this trip as a late deal, looking for a relaxing break away from young children. We wanted sea, sand and sunshine, which The Sea Hotel has to offer, alongside a friendly welcoming atmosphere and great food. Picking no individuals out for special mention as everyone seemed equally willing to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Reading reviews, I'm sure some people spend their vacation time looking for faults and are upset if they find none to complain about. During our ten night stay, we had absolutely no reason to find fault at all and would happily return in the future. Both of us having mobility issues and using sticks, we had no problems moving around the hotel or surrounding areas. Inside, there are two lifts/elevators to all floors and the surrounding area is flat, so no steep hills or hundreds of stairs to worry about. Guests are multi national so there is plenty of opportunity to practice your linguistic skills, have some laughs and make new friends, as long as you're willing to try. The Sea Hotel operates a strict "No Smoking/Vaping" policy on its premises, including outside areas, which I think is wonderful but due to its location on the corner of two public paths and the public beach where smokers congregate, the fumes do drift across the outdoor bar and bistro area. Definitely NOT the hotel's fault and out of their hands to prevent but just a point to keep in mind if it's going to be a deal breaker for you, before booking."

"A perfect trip from start to finish. The hotel is right on the beach which has the most beautiful white sand and crystal clear sea. The hotel is stunning incredibly relaxing with lovely rooms. What completes the experience is the staff. Without exception every single member of staff is amazing. We were bed and breakfast and the buffet was fabulous there was a huge selection to cater for all tastes. I challenge anyone to not find something they like. Again the staff work tirelessly and are cheerful and polite. We ate out every night and had some spectacular meals. Our favourite was Ponderosa right on the beach. Olympia next to that was great as well. La Pinta over the road from the hotel was delicious for tapas. Too many to mention. If you’re a pool dweller you may be a bit disappointed as the pool is in the shade until late afternoon and there are only a few beds. The rest are on the sundeck."

"Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our stay – especially in relation to the price paid. Upon arrival, we already had to notice mold in the bathroom and on the shower. We reported this directly to the front desk and received a new room on the second day. Unfortunately, the exact same problem existed there. We took the room anyway as a gesture of goodwill, but had to deal with this hygienic deficiency right at the beginning of our vacation. There were also questionable conditions in the restaurant: Directly above the buffet were air conditioning vents from which condensation formed and dripped onto the buffet area. We found that very concerning, especially from a hygienic perspective. The food was overall rather mediocre. For example, a paella was once clearly burnt. At the à la carte lunch, you also sometimes had to wait a very long time for the food, which was quite annoying, especially at lunchtime. Other points that disappointed us: The lounge chairs in the beach area required a fee. Despite all-inclusive, items like iced coffee and milkshakes were not included. In the pool area, there were green deposits or mold/limescale residue on the shower handle. The tables between the lounge chairs were sometimes dirty and were only briefly wiped off with a dry cloth upon request. The daily room cleaning was also rather superficial and overall not as thorough as we would have expected for the price. The hotel advertises sustainability, but at the same time offers, among other things, Nescafé from Nestlé. The hot chocolate consisted merely of warm milk and Nesquik powder. However, we would like to explicitly highlight the staff in the dining area as a positive. The employees were consistently very nice, attentive, and friendly. That definitely made our stay more pleasant in some respects. Overall, given the price we paid for the trip, we had significantly higher expectations. Individual minor defects can of course occur – but all in all, there were too many issues for us, especially the recurring problems with mold and cleanliness. Our conclusion: For the price paid, we would not book this hotel again. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio was not there for us."
