"We stayed here for five nights and unfortunately came away very disappointed. We are happy to pay well for a hotel when the overall experience justifies it, but this stay did not feel remotely comparable to other genuine five-star hotels we have experienced at a similar price point and we travel extensively and always stay at the hotels in this rank but this was really a big disappointment.
- The setting and surroundings did not feel luxurious or particularly charming. 90% of the hotel looks towards a parking area, which was a surprising first impression for a hotel positioned as five-star.
- breakfast buffet was very limited for this category and price level. The choice was much narrower than we would expect, and there were no green vegetables at all- something we also heard other guests commenting on. When I asked if we could get some salad, the answer was that unfortunately they don’t have this. We also found it odd that a one-litre bottle of water was unavailable and only small 200 ml bottles were offered, so we repeatedly had to ask for several bottles during breakfast.
- The room furnishings did not feel premium at all. The furniture and overall finish gave the impression that costs had been saved, rather than creating the refined, high-end feel one expects from a five star property. We had a problem with our bed and even after we asked at the reception for someone to fix it, nothing was done.
- Our first room, number 100, was presented as an upgrade during check in, but it was not an upgrade in any meaningful sense for us. Although it had a terrace, it felt almost cave-like: the only view was of the sky, with no real outlook at all. We would strongly have preferred the standard room we had originally booked, with a normal window and some sense of openness. To the hotel’s credit, they were kind enough to move us after we explained that the first room was not suitable for us. We paid extra for a room with a shared pool, which was indeed much better. However, even with that upgrade, the overall hotel experience still did not feel like true five-star quality.
- The small bay near the hotel is very busy in high season. This is, of course, not the hotel’s fault, but it is worth knowing that it was difficult to have a relaxing swim because there were so many people in the water.
What we genuinely appreciated was the staff. Everyone was very friendly, professional and kind, and they took excellent care of my husband’s allergies, which we had communicated in advance. Special thanks to Noah who was really exceptional.
The only disappointing interaction with staff was at check-out. When we were asked how we had found our stay and calmly explained the concerns above, we expected some understanding. Instead, we felt that the person was trying to argue with our feedback rather than listening to it and accept it.
Again, this is not a complaint about paying a high price-we are always happy to do so for a 5 star hotel. Our disappointment is that the experience simply did not deliver the quality, atmosphere, facilities or level of luxury we are used to for that price. Apart from the wonderful employees, very little about the hotel felt genuinely five-star, and we would not return."
