"I have very mixed views on this hotel.
Overall, the hotel itself is clean, much bigger than I expected, and most of the staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food around the pool was good, although we didn’t try the main restaurant. We were room only, so I can’t comment on the breakfast or other meal options.
Our room was clean and modern, with a lovely bathroom and a great shower. The beds were comfortable and we all slept really well. However, because we were room only, I would have expected the room to have some basic facilities for self-catering. There were no plates, bowls or cutlery, so we had to go out and buy paper plates, bowls and plastic spoons just to be able to have breakfast and lunch. Although it is a room-only option, I think the rooms could cater for the self-catering side of things much better.
The location of the hotel is brilliant and was perfect for us. The grounds are pretty, very well maintained and the hotel itself is lovely.
However, my main issue is the pool area.
The pool area is simply too small for the number of people staying at the hotel. We visited in August, so obviously expected it to be busy, but the pool was extremely overcrowded.
The sunbed situation was also the worst I have ever experienced. If you want a sunbed, you seem to either have to get up at 4am and risk your towels being removed, or be down at the pool before 7am. By around 7:30am, virtually every sunbed was gone.
Throughout the day, people were also moving sunbeds around and placing them wherever they wanted, sometimes blocking access around the pool. This really needs to be managed better, particularly from a safety point of view. The stickers asking people not to reserve sunbeds clearly don’t work, as they are simply ignored.
The last thing you want on holiday is to have to get up at the crack of dawn just to secure a sunbed for your family. I completely understand that August is a busy time, but the pool area and sunbed situation really took away from our experience.
With all of this in mind, although I think the hotel itself is lovely, unfortunately it is probably not somewhere I would return to.
That said, a huge thank you to all the staff at Prinsotel for a pleasant stay and for making us feel welcome. You all work incredibly hard and it definitely shows."
