Melia Cala d'Or Boutique Hotel

"Would recommend this hotel , amazing FOOD staff are so helpful for recommending restaurants etc.Sofriendly at breakfast etc We did half board was really helpful that we could swap it for lunch whenever we wanted to , food at DINNER was amazing but the atmosphere was like a funeral unfortunately. Many times we wanted to earliest time for dinner which was 7pm and as you walked in you were met with the strong smell of smoke! Which isn’t nice when you have a young child. The lift broke during our stay and wasn’t fixed , understand it wasn’t the staff’s fault but was very inconvenient again with a child! LOCATION is perfect highly recommend getting a car and going outside coloured door as we found it very chavy ! We like authentic not British food and Indian restaurants. Lovely ports near by very different vibe , lots of supermarkets around! Our ROOM was one the the bigger types with a kitchen and big balcony and two tvs it was amazing had everything you would need and nice a spacious! If you fancy a smaller hotel with less crowds in a good location and good food and family friendly I would recommend!"

"Unfortunately, Meliá Cala d’Or didn’t quite hit the mark for us, especially given its 5-star rating. We had a few uncomfortable and unwelcoming interactions with the pool staff, which impacted our overall experience. The room itself also didn’t feel up to a 5-star standard. There was rust in the shower, we had ants in our room, and the sheets and towels had a strange smell and felt quite stiff. Coffee pods in the room were very sparse, although the staff did bring us more when we requested them. Our room was also only cleaned once during our three-night stay. Traveling with young children in diapers and having only small trash cans in the room made this particularly difficult. There were definitely positives. The breakfast buffet had a large variety and we really enjoyed it, and the pool area itself was beautiful. One thing for families to be aware of is that the area around the pool can be extremely slippery for little ones. Cala d’Or itself is very much a tourist destination. If you’re looking for a resort-style stay, that may be exactly what you want, but if you’re hoping for a more authentic Mallorcan experience, I would personally look elsewhere. Overall, for the price and 5-star designation, we expected a higher level of service, cleanliness, and attention to detail, particularly as a family traveling with young children."

"Staying here now at beginning of September and the weather is perfect. This Melia boutique hotel is an oasis of calm. It’s small at 55 rooms with some suites . The hotel has 4 buildings all centered around the oblong pool which whilst not large is more than sufficient for a good swim. A positive is that the sunbeds are positioned around the pool in 2’s and 3’s divided off by waist height hedging with pergolas covered by plants above. This gives excellent cover against the sun and avoids the need for any umbrellas. There are sufficient beds and there was no rush on a morning with beds available up to midday. The rooms all have balconies. We enjoyed the grand suite with a wrap around balcony with Bali bed, table chairs and sunbed. The room had a separate living room with a huge queen size bed . Cleanliness is exceptional everywhere and carried out by an excellent team of friendly staff. Breakfast had all the usual offerings although we found the cooking of omelettes, fried eggs and scrambled eggs could have been better. Hotel is located less than 10minutes from the centre of Cala D’or with its many bars restaurants some with live entertainment. The beach is 5 minutes away. Bus stop is just around the corner and a tourist train 5 minutes next to the beach. The hotel is child friendly."
