Inturotel Cala Esmeralda Beach Hotel and Spa, Cala d'Or

"Normally amazing , I must say reception staff the most lazy useless people on the island ! We checked in wt 10 am and asked for bags to be taken to the room at 1 pm , after 6pm still no bags , went to reception and 3/4 people sat doing nothing !!!!, also room service no top up of drinks and one small bottle of water , when went to reception the lazy man gave me a paper cup for the cheap corridor top up water ! I wanted clean bottle water but it was too much for him to open the fridge in the bar 10m away like they have done for the past 10 years! The hotel has gone down hill and the staff just expect us to return because of the beautiful Calador not because of good service! I hope they get fired and employ staff that care"

"I just returned after spending a week at this hotel. We had a sea view premium room which was a good size on the top floor with a lovely view. The espresso machine was nice but the tea bags were not replenished daily like the coffee pods. The toiletries were good quality. The hotel decor was lovely and smelled like rituals products. It has a good location and is 5-10minute walk to centre of town and 15-20minute walk to the marina. The carafe to help yourself to filtered cold water was a nice touch. The food quality was very good but selection of evening meal options wasn’t as varied as other similar standard hotels we’ve stayed at. The wine list was very good and we ordered a different bottle of white every night! The pool areas and beach club were lovely but there were not enough sunbeds around the hotel pools in my opinion.people started queuing for the beach club from 0900 even though it opened at 10. We used the gym several times which was adequate and comparable to our home gym, small compared to other hotels we’ve stayed. The lack of air conditioning in there meant it was very hot. As well as air conditioning it would have benefitted from gym towels to put down when working out. We were not expecting entertainment having read previous reviews and that wasn’t a problem as town is close by. However there was entertainment on a few nights but the hotel should have advertised when they were planning entertainment so it would be better attended. The jazz singer had a beautiful voice but she sang to an empty bar before we got there. The band played to an empty bar when we walked past. The waiter service at the hotel bar was poor. The beach bar djs were both good. All in all we enjoyed our stay, would recommend it and would happily stay here again but would benefit from some slight tweaks."

"We’ve stayed here a couple of times and it is a stunning hotel in a fab location. The majority of the staff are incredible and the rooms are spotless. Breakfast buffet is varied and usually tasty. BUT … the place that maybe should be the hotel’s jewel in its crown, the Sa Cala Beach Club, is let down by consistently rude and chaotic service. When you are at the pool you can pop up to the bar for service but invariably you are blatantly ignored. I’ve just been at the bar and stood there for ten minutes whilst FIVE people behind the bar acted as if I wasn’t there and then when I did get served, treated me as an inconvenience. I witnessed one guy flip the bird to his boss when he was asked to do something and the general demeanour of the waiting team is one of disdain. Summary, great hotel but staff at the beach bar need a crash course in how to manage waiting stations and serve actual real customers. Manners cost nothing, sadly my drinks were far from free."
