"For us the second time in Egypt, previously always been to Turkey. Beautiful resort, but not quite the luxury we expected for us. We were at the Pickalbatros Citadel Resort for a week with four adults. Architecturally, the resort is truly beautiful and unique. Especially around the harbor, it is incredibly cozy in the evening; it almost feels like a small town. The beautiful blue lagoons are also definitely a plus point. We had asked for a central location due to health complaints, but received a room in building 8 (the farthest one). It then turned out that this was still too far from the central area for us, and we discussed this. Then we got a room above the harbor in building 2. The location was perfect, but unfortunately the room was very old, especially the bathroom. If it had been stated beforehand that these rooms would be renovated in November, we would have understood that. Prior communication is very important, but unfortunately it was missing. Now the lady from Guest Relations resolved it afterwards, she was incredibly friendly and tried very hard to solve it. We were offered an upgrade and a massage. The resort is large and there are many stairs and distances, and in the main building there is 1 small elevator. Fortunately, golf carts and vans run around every 15 minutes to take you to your desired location. That is well arranged. Take the wind into account, especially in September/October. We were in late September and had quite a bit of wind regularly, so there was a red flag flying. From the harbor, you were not allowed to go out to sea left or right to snorkel because of that. At the beautiful blue lagoons and just outside the harbor, that was possible. What we missed were more options to eat on the beach. There are places to have a drink, but for breakfast or lunch you have to go back to the central area. We generally found the food less good than at the Pickalbatros Palace, where we were in June. We also found the facilities more practical there, such as the pool bar where you can drink in the pool. We also missed the fresh orange juice we had there. In addition, we found the ice cream selection very limited for a five-star resort: only two flavors of ice cream. Schepijs can be gotten at Starbucks for payment. I also want to mention that my friend and I had severe diarrhea for the last three days of the vacation, while my husband and his wife were not affected at all. A week after coming home, we are still suffering from this here. I am actually never sick during holidays and pay close attention to what I eat and drink. Due to the long distances, I have used public toilets more often here. We naturally don't know what it's from, but suspect we ate something that made us sick. Overall, Citadel is a beautiful and special resort, especially because of the architecture, the harbor, and the beautiful lagoons. The service of Guest Relations and the transport within the resort were well organized. We would personally choose the Pickalbatros Palace after our experiences with both resorts. You would say that the Pickalbatros chains have the same basis in terms of food and drink, but we didn't have that impression. We ate 2 à la carte."
