Protur Bonamar

"After reading all the positive reviews about this hotel, we were really looking forward to our holiday. The hotel is in a perfect location within easy walking distance to both Cala Bona and Cala Millor. However, on arrival at 4.30 in the morning, we found ourselves locked out and then told that our Premium Sea View room had been mistakenly given away. This turned out to be a genuine mistake by the night porter and when Victoria arrived at 7.00am she was very apologetic, polite and very professional. She quickly sorted the problem for us and gave us a late check out for our last day. Thank you Victoria, this was very much appreciated. The room did have a fantastic sea view and sun on the large balcony until around 4.00pm. Unfortunately, that is the only positive thing that I can say about the room as we found it to be very small with a glass box for a bathroom, and stains on the shower floor. There were also mouldy stains on the sun beds and our coffee cups were not changed for the whole week! The food at the hotel is varied and very good with fresh food cooked to your preference and most staff here are extremely friendly and efficient, with the exception of Mariano!! On our last day, whilst we were eating our meal, he came to our table and announced quite loudly that we were not on his list to eat at the restaurant. My husband and I were extremely annoyed and embarrassed and when my husband went to the desk to ask if there was a problem, he was told “no, carry on with your meal”. There was no apology for Mariano’s obvious mistake and as we passed him on our way out, he actually turned his back on us 😡. He was very rude and should be either retrained in customer relations or given another position in the hotel away from guests. On a positive note, the majority of staff here are extremely polite and respectful and the jewel in the hotel’s crown is NATALIE who works tirelessly throughout the day and evening entertaining the guests and she gave us a good giggle on numerous occasions😂. I hope they pay you well Natalie as you are worth your weight in gold!! Overall, we had a nice holiday but unfortunately we will not be returning and really would not rate this hotel as 4*. Protur need to take a good look around and identify where the many improvements need to be made, starting with the old and grimy stair carpet which leads up to the rooms. We would not recommend staying here and can’t understand why guests return year after year."

"Just returned from another great holiday at this hotel. Met by Victoria who as usual her smiley face and bubbly personality. The night porter was always polite and had a big smile, even when we got back in late. The ladies who cleaned our rooms always did an amazing job, most of the time when we got back from breakfast our room was cleaned. Other than the net curtain had one very large tear down the middle and several other tears as well, so when they were closed it looked awful and could see straight through (this is not the cleaners fault, it was reported but not replaced). The pool areas were very clean, washed down every morning and no problems getting a sun bed. The Lifeguard Andrea was a wonderful lady, with a very contagious laugh. She was always walking around keeping the pool area tidy and got on with all the guests. She helped people who needed it with great respect getting in/out of pool and never took her eyes off them. The entertainment and actives through the day were run by Natalie she was always on the go doing her best to get everyone involved. She mingled so well with the guest and remembering everyone old and new. She truly is the life and soul of the hotel and works really hard and is a bubbly, funny and always found time to talk to people. She is the gem of the hotel. Air conditioning was awful even though it said 18 in the room our clock always said it was 24. The restaurant was warm and when we mentioned it they did not seem bothered, over the years never had a problem whilst eating. Only place that it seemed to work was in reception, even the bar where the tv was it seemed not to be working. The biggest let down for us was the food this year. Breakfast was lovely. Please get rid of the 2 sittings, never been anywhere else that restricts you to what times you can eat. We were on the second sitting at 8.15pm. Several times we walked in and walked back out. It seemed not to be presented well, everything looked dried, as if it had been left under the heating lamps for ages and was the last of the food to get rid of. Very little choice of deserts compared to previous times, ice creams were near enough melted. No choice of breads, only a dozen in a basket and no baguettes. Never ate the soup this year, fish soup, garlic soup and pumpkin to name a few. They ran out of things like steak and we had only just arrived. All the meat were covered in sauces. Foods are not labelled up so if you have nut allergies etc. please be careful. The Italian meal by the pool was very poor. We ordered everything only to be told after the starter that 4 of the main dishes they had ran out of. After we reordered one came out smothered in red peppers, one contained only one piece of meat and another was cold and had to be sent back. After we finished the desert plates were left on the table so we had to clear it ourselves as it was all shut up and the evening entertainment was starting. There are so many lovely places to eat thankfully, think an option for bed and breakfast would be a good option. Quite a few guests had the same problems but did not want to complain directly. We love this hotel and it’s location, the staff and all the returning guests year after year."

"Protur Bonamar We was recommended this hotel by guests staying at protur playa Cala millor, they said the bonamar was far more above, but our view is the protur playa Cala millor is much more plush than the bonamar. On arrival we was greeted by friendly staff, they gave us cava and our room key, we stayed in 314 which was a sea view, our first impression was it was clean but very small, then we noticed how hot it was and that the air con didn’t work, that night was a nitemare, we come away for sunshine but need air con in the room to just take the heat off while getting ready etc, I asked reception that night that we couldn’t stay in that room and the following morning I asked for it to be resolved , engineer tested air con and said ok but it wasn’t, the reception kindly also let me have a fan, the staff are all very good and helpful, we got moved to 211 which was much better. The rooms are really small and the toilet feels like its in the same room as the bed, there’s not much privacy while your doing your daily routine, I brought suction hooks to make a privacy screen and hung a towel, the shower is so small, hardly any wardrobe space , balcony is tiny , you have to pay for safe , other hotels normally give you this for free at 4 star, we never had any courtesy drinking water in room, the playa Cala millor gave us each day, the balcony is a nitemare each time you open the door you get caught up In the curtain, and locked out if u close the door, one of the units near door could b removed , the design is not good! The pool area is quite busy and people put towels down at six, this should b roped off until cleaning is finished, the beds in the pool are a bit dirty and the pool is not cleaned with a machine , should b if it’s four star. The restaurant area is really dated , I noticed ants round the fruit and also ants around cold buffet near the cheese, the food is ok, but not great, bit hit and miss, all the staff work really hard, they are just working there so can’t fault any of them , it’s the company to make sure it’s kept to standards, overall this hotel needs to be reassessed by protur management or TUI, it is not four star in any way , it’s more like a three. We feel the hotel needs a lot of maintenance I. E the air con, and generally updating, it may have been four star ten year ago but not now, the roof terrace is good, better than pool area. We would not stay here again even if we got offered for free, it’s defo a three star rating , in areas very slap dash , on the morning coming home we was told we could have a roll with some jam or fruit for breakfast, we went down at 6am to restaurant and there was nothing , not even a biscuit , we’ve always had a breakfast before we leave other hotels, I thought this was really rude, although on checking out I was asked if we had breakfast , I said nothing down there , then told we could go down when we was leaving, bit late by then ! it’s not as good as other protur we are sorry to say and will not return, we tried it but it’s not for us, and beware of other reviewers on here as they have been going for years , and are probably just use to what they get, so they give a good review every time, but we couldn’t see what they r seeing , again definitely not a four star hotel, Protur staff are lovely , but as a company they need to up their game on this hotel !!!"
