"THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS HOTEL.
We booked this hotel based on the huge number of excellent reviews.
One’s perception of excellence is of course subjective and can only really be comparative bawd on previous experiences.
We have stayed in truly exceptional hotels and this one, simply put, isn’t “excellent” by any stretch of the imagination.
The positives are :
The location is central to everything you need on holiday such as beach, restaurants, bars, shops, etc. All of these are a maximum of a five minute walk from your room.
The staff are attentive, kind, friendly and welcoming. They all get 10/10
Cleanliness is perfection. The room and every section of this hotel was spotlessly clean.
Drinks prices from the hotel bar are good value for money. The cocktails are not great. But the tap beer and all other beverages were absolutely fine.
The slight let downs are:
Room size is on the small side The gap between the end of the beds and the small shelf over the mini fridge is probably 40cm. The wardrobe is a good size. The balcony’s are small but adequate.
The bathroom is tiny and the shower isn’t the best. The bathroom floor gets soaked every time the shower is used as there is no shower door or shower curtain. The bathroom towels are small, old and hard. Certainly not 4 star quality. There is no ventilation in the bathroom or extraction so it’s damp and turns into a steam room after and during every shower. There is no Bath.
There is a huge gap around the bedroom door that lets a lot of light through at night. The AC works well.
Every evening there is entertainment and it is mostly “pub singer” quality and there are only so many times tou can hear “I will survive” before it becomes annoying. Thankfully it ends around 11pm.
Breakfast isn’t good. The “juice” is squash. Awful. The coffee is served from four different machines and every one of them dished up a brown liquid that just isn’t coffee. The cheese is plastic slices of tasteless yellow nonsense. The bread was good and the fresh fried eggs were acceptable. The bacon, mushrooms, and scrambled eggs are all appalling.
Having said this we did find some fruit and other items that were fine.
The hotel pool area is a bit cramped. The usual towel reserved bed scramble didn’t happen too often. The pool is clean and unheated but perfectly acceptable.
We enjoyed our stay but if you are looking for a true four star hotel this isn’t one. I’d say it’s a reasonable three. It’s great value for money though and overall I do recommend."
