MH Apartments Central Madrid

"Well-located apartment and across from the Tirso de Molina metro stop. Below are a Carrefour and a Lidl. Convenient for a quick shopping trip. However, the area is very noisy and I recommend being a heavy sleeper, otherwise you wake up often. Furthermore, the price-quality ratio is rather poor. Almost 1,200 euros (4 beds) for three nights without breakfast and room cleaning only upon request (45 euros/day). The apartment was clean enough but very lived-in and would need a "refresh". Aside from the two beds, for the other 2 guests there is an uncomfortable sofa bed because the mattress slopes towards the head. Meaning that the feet are a bit higher than the head and you have to be at most 180cm otherwise you won't fit. For three nights you can adapt, but if I think about the bill, it's not very good. Finally, upon our arrival at reception there was no one (until the next day). Check-in done automatically via a machine at the entrance."

"Points in favour: * Location: excellent. Despite being a busy wave (in addition to being in the works) you could not hear much fuss (from the 4th floor at least) Metro in front of the establishment, like several buses. You can walk perfectly to the center (door of the sun, main square, royal palace...) in less than 5 minutes * 24 hour survival kit: very top. You have cleaning products (wipe, hand and machine dishwasher, washing machine soap) to get out of the way at least at the first stroke. In addition there are two supermarkets below, one of them open 24/7. Points against: * Although on the website it said that there were staff to check in until 18h, we arrived at 16h and there was no one. We had done the online check-in to facilitate but it was no use. The machine was not working, we had to call 4 times to help us (the first 3 were not at all resolute or kind) Process was tedious and delayed. * Staff: we found a gentleman who claimed to work on site, who was quite unpleasant, smoked inside the building, (in reception and elevators), and even left reception riding the elevator on a motorcycle (vespa type) * Despite being a new site you can notice that it is "battle" because it already has some defects (does not seem to premium maintenance, it is a shame)"

"Upon arriving at the metro and exiting it, I realised that the hotel is right next to it which is great. It is between two supermarkets - 24/7 Carrefour and Lidl and makes it convenient for one if you require any groceries. I noticed that there was a huge construction site right in front of the hotel and a few homeless people right close to one of the entry doors of the hotel. There was security to get into the building and I got buzzed in. Upon entry, there was no one at the reception and I was meddling with the check in machine which kinda didn't work. A lady appeared after a while and said the check in machine wasn't working. She proceeded to check me in. Once I got into the room, the drilling noise of the construction was very noticeable with the windows closed. I headed back down to the reception immediately seeking for a change of room but there was no one there. I had to search around and finally found a mobile number to call. The lady answered the phone and said the hotel was full and apologised. She proceeded to say if a room became available, she would inform me to change it - I was booked into the hotel for 5 nights. The room itself had all the necessary amenities including a washing machine and full sized fridge. There was ample space within the apartment but the practicality was slightly lacking. The bathroom had minimal vanity space and one had to put them outside on a rack. Perhaps a couple of shelves could be installed near the vanity. Further, there was no niche in the shower for toiletries and hence they had to be put on the ground in the shower. The screen was good in keeping the water within the shower though. There was one towel hook outside the shower but perhaps another one would be helpful. Whilst beneath the vanity there was a towel rail, it is really low and realistically would only fit the hand towel as the bath towel would be touching the ground if hung there. For sleeping, due to the noise levels, if you would like to have a good night's rest, this wouldn't be the place for you. Being right by the street, one could hear the trains still going even late into the night, pedestrians downstairs shouting, cars and trucks honking etc. One literally wouldn't be able to open the windows for ventilation and light. Even with the windows closed, the noise is still significant. With that, I went down the next morning asking for a change of room and was told that the hotel is full and if there was a cancellation, I would be informed about it. I have another 3 nights to go but am doubtful about being able to change another room. The noise level unfortunately is a huge issue for this hotel."
