"So the big question would I stay there again?? absolutely not!!! We have stayed in many places that are five star rated that I would LOVE
to return this is not one of them.
The hotel itself is not one that would itself be a destination. Having stayed in hotels where the property itself is worthy of visiting where if you could not leave the property you would be happy and think you had a great time this is not one of them. .
The location and surrounding areas are not desirable to return to either. The room was well appointed yes it’s as pictured on their website. The bed was comfortable enough pillows were OK not great. It was clean. It is located on a very very busy street. Nothing particularly great about the location. We did have a room on a higher floor with a balcony, that looked out across the river at the old town area of Salzburg. To be honest there’s not anything great about looking out at that. It’s not particularly pretty. You’re looking at basically a sheared off hillside with some buildings at the top and at night a few neon lights. The hotel does not have much of a lobby to hang out in places outside of your room. Much of the hotel is built around a very large staircase. The hotel is next to the foot bridge to go across to the old town. Historic area is small. Basically Salzburg, if you have not been there, it’s just a big huge dirty city with this tiny little historic area in it. I have to admit it wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be quaint I knew the old town would be small but I did not expect it to be in a big dirty city. There were several places we visited on this trip that were small quaint towns with nice historic areas disappointingly Salzburg is not like that . There are many beautiful scenic places in Austria to stay. Salzburg is more of a place to make an afternoon day trip out of while you’re staying in some beautiful location elsewhere . When we arrived, it was about time for dinner we were going to eat in the one little bistro in the hotel we walked into it. It had a really bad funky smell. I mean really bad. Not sure what that was about. We turned around and left. We went over the Foot bridge to find a restaurant in the old town area, I think in our travels which were for several weeks this was the only place we walked around and where it did not feel quite as safe to walk around in the evening. The hotel staff were accommodating enough no one was rude or anything like that, but one would expect that to be the case. We ended up having to change our travels and leave earlier than we had thought which in hindsight I realize was a blessing. If I had to stay in Salzburg itself again I would stay within the historic area at least perhaps there’s something quaint to walk to right outside your hotel room. I would not stay in a hotel that is just a building on a very very busy street again so while it was OK, it just didn’t have anything particularly special to offer either in location or in the actual property. In comparison staying in Vienna was absolutely beautiful to stay snd walk around. I would save my big city experience for there. Another minor thing the hotel room key is this big huge thing quite irritating to try to carry with you. I usually slip my hotel room key into my wallet you’re not doing that with this key. We did have a car and they do have valet parking. Thank goodness because there’s just a tiny little pull up for you to get out at and hope not to get hit by cars as you exit your car. The parking is rather expensive. I believe it’s maybe €65 , they should really just make it complementary might make you feel better about having to pull up in all of that traffic on this tiny little curb area."
