"Stayed on the hotel from 9th to 13th May. The location is perfect at least for our mini holiday. In walking distance to the Royal Castle and all the pedestian streets in the middle of the city. There are lots of restaurants very close to the hotel with very good food.
We got a good spacious room on the 4th floor with view to Grand Via. We didn't have any noise from the street and we slept fairly well on the king size double bed. However one side of the mattres in my part of the bed was angled towards the floor, so I had to wrap the (big) duvet around me. (I didn't make any complaint about it but accepted it). The had a big TV with a few foreign channels - else a huge number of spanish channels.
The cleaning of the room was not the best. Used glass was not cleaned, there were dust on many of the shelves over the fridge, and the bathroom was not dirty, but not proper cleaned, The big seemed to be a too big mirror to clean. There was no brush to clean the toilet and the cleaner did not care about cleaning it. Maybe she is not having enough time to clean it, but the beds were in perfect order every day after we had almost torned it apart.
The breakfast was very good in a fairly big room with tables for everyone and many choices of food. Standard breakfast food like scramble eggs , very tastful bacon sausages, and all kind af other things that you see on other big hotels.
The hotel has a nice large swimmingpool on the top floor with big terraces on different floors and a fantastic far reaching view over the city and the Royal Castle. The pool though is not heated and was around 12-13 celcius and too cold for us. In summertime it will be heated from the sun and could be quite warm.(the waiter said)
There is a bar and restaurant up there and the setting outside is quite nice with a lot of sunbeds and small table and chairs if you want to eat.
Inside the restaurant is very simple and has very cheap tables and chairs, and it took us some time to explain the waitress what we wanted to eat. She speaks english but did not understand everything we asked for, so we had to explain it some times. The food we got was cold( probably because it was made in the kitchen on the first floor and the transported to the 10th floor . My wife ordred a burger and I ordred the ribs, and we waited quite a long time before the food came. The burger was luke warm and my ribs was sort of ok, so she ate some of hjer burger and got a little of mine ribs. Since it took a long time to get the food we didn't complain as we then would have to wait for a new one. But we told another waiter that cleaned our table that the food was not warm enough, and he said that he would tell the manager. A lady sitting close to our table waited 45 minutes for her burger, and she didn't eat much of it. We had a chat we her after the meal and she said her burger was not hot but warm enough for her to eat it.
But we enjoyed Madrid and could walk around and see the many interesting building sfrom the start of the 1900's, the squares and the many shopping posibilites."
